Official Selection Sunday Thread

No wonder NC State got in and we're in the play in game...The chair this year is the AD at Wake Forrest....sorry we kicked your teams A## man....smdh

Sounds like a complete maroon. Doesn't seem to know anything about why teams were shunned and why some seeds didn't make sense.

Honestly, I'll take it.

Play-in game or not, we're matched up against a team that has only had one win since mid-Feb. and it was against Purdue. And a potential 2nd round matchup against UMASS.

No that means with out the extra game NCSU and XU would not have made a 64 team field. We would have still made it.

Without the play in round the 4 low major conference winners would just be in the tourney. Knocking the 4 major non winners out so we would be out

I am happy to get in but we could have easily been left out.

Technically......

Good point. It was on the skids due to Pearl. We were picked 11 of 12 in the SEC when he took over for a reason.

In CBP's last year we were actually a #9 seed.........and the year before that, may I remind you that the Vols went to the Elite 8. Nevertheless, a 9 seed is better than CCM's NCAAT's resume thus far.....

@ToddFuhrman: Before the bracket was unveiled, SMU was listed as a -2000 favorite to make the field (risking $20 would have paid $1)

Unreal.

It's hard for me to consider this as making the tournament. Say what you will but Cuonzo did the absolute bare minimum with possibly the best team he will have during his tenure at UT.

This actually was a pretty accurate seeding based on RPI's. All the lower tiered conference champions are guaranteed non-play in games so if you're a major and your RPI is in the 40's or 50's you are competing probably for a play-in game. You have to be under a 40 to probably get a non play in game the way they did it. I think its pretty fair.

No, we wouldn't. 2 of the 16 seeds that play in the Dayton play-in games, so they would've been spread out across the bracket and taken away the last 4 in, which includes UT.

So 64 teams get a first-round bye? This tournament makes less sense to me every year :)

yeah, they do that for branding purposes. If they didn't call it the first round then people wouldn't believe it counted as the actual tournament.
