Official Selection Sunday Thread

So someone should inform the guys on CBS doing the Selection Show that it is not the play in game.

Lipstick on a pig. Play in game

I don't get Kentucky as an 8 seed.

And I'd be pissed that we're in a play in, but I actually like our chances where we are. We should be the favorite to beat both Iowa and UMass, and it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility that we upset Duke.

It could have been worse.

I agree. If we don't lay an egg, we can beat those 3. Duke will be tough, but are beatable. I just can't believe UMass is better than us or Iowa. The KY 8 seed is a joke. I hate them, but they got screwed.

Iowa is one of the last four in and we are next four on top of the last four so we have a play in. That's the way the cookie crumbles. If we had beaten Florida then Kentucky we probably jump to a seven seed.

How can you have these crappy play-in games an call it round 1? A 64-team bye is just absurd. And what is the point of a play-in? Isn't that what your whole season is?

yeah, they do that for branding purposes. If they didn't call it the first round then people wouldn't believe it counted as the actual tournament.

They can call it what they want but it doesn't really count as being in the tournament imo. If it did why would it be called a "play in" game, as In you have to win your way in because you're not officially in.

In CBP's last year we were actually a #9 seed.........and the year before that, may I remind you that the Vols went to the Elite 8. Nevertheless, a 9 seed is better than CCM's NCAAT's resume thus far.....

What he took over and what happened the year before are two different things. The year before was only a 18-13 reg 19-15 overall team anyway. What was left was looming sanctions and a team picked 11 of 12 in conference. That is on the skids to me.

I was wrong about being in. Didn't account for the 16's in the other games.

Apparently there's still a lot of disagreement. If that is their intention, they probably shouldn't label these games "play-in" games.

I don't think the NCAA does, I could be wrong though. I think just the media and fans use that term. I think the NCAA exclusively calls them 1st round games.
