Official Selection Sunday Thread

Thank you to everyone who has helped answer my question. I'm just now starting to become a basketball fan, so all of this March Madness stuff is pure madness to me. Thanks fellas!

This is better than the NIT. Again, I think we should've been a 9 or 10 seed, but we must deal the hand we are dealt with. Nothing else we can do about it. Go Vols, beat Iowa!

If losing to Iowa means we get rid of Zo I'm all for it, I'm sorry. He is not the guy to lead this program to where it could/should be. He just doesn't "have it." We've got the right guy's for football and for baseball, just need one for basketball. Play-in game? We shouldn't even be anywhere near the bubble to begin with. JMO

Agreed especially with the talent on this team.

If you had those 15 & 16 seeds in the play-ins you wouldn't make as much money, hence the reason for my first response.:good!:

In my mind, it would make more sense.

I honestly think it should just be the 64 best teams playing. I don't care what conference you are from...

The reason they have done this was to improve NCAA fan participation and attendance and broaden the audience and TV ratings for the tournament and it has worked.

So 64 teams get a first-round bye? This tournament makes less sense to me every year :)

exactly right... its laughable... a play-in game is a play-in game.

I guess CCM will puff his chest and talk about how great of a job he and his Vols did to make the "play-in" game. Then he will go after that raise and extension.

Yeah, your response makes sense now that someone else has taken the time to directly answer my question. Thanks :hi:

I don't think Cuonzo gets fired even if we lose to Iowa.

I don't think he will either. Just making the point that this team underachieved big time with the talent available to Martin. Anyone thinking he will get fired if we lose to Iowa is kidding themselves. To me, it's not worth rooting against the team that you have followed for years.

Did you mean to say BTO....

I'll always hold the last a&m game personally against Martin.

Me too. I was reading his lips on the tv screen when he told Stokes to miss the game winning free throw. It was the same damn thing he whispered to Maymon with 23 seconds left when we played them here! I can't believe he didn't realize that he should have been coaching them to make those and ice the games!!

He's not a con man. He's just trying to get the best paying job he can get. He's out of his league for the most part but because of this he'll get two more years.

dont think so. when the vols go .500 next year and miss the NCAAT, CCM will get blown-out....

He will not get fired this year, but people will lay in wait next year. It will get ugly. He needs to make a run just to keep others off his back. I will never pull against this team.

That's the sad part. If he isn't capable of getting it done he needs to go. Hell I'm not a neurosurgeon. You think they might pay me for a couple years to give it a try? Everyone has their own gifts and abilities. Being a top level bb coach is not his and he should accept that

The term "play in game" is a media invention to create drama and ratings. The NCAA term is "opening round". Like it or not, Tennessee, Iowa, X, and NCSt are in the official tournament.

He told a player to miss the game winning free throw? Seriously? Why? So he could put his job in further jeopardy?

Everyone expected UT to go to the NCAAT this year and they are....with the amount of talent theyre losing next year....no one expects them to go next year.....why would he get blown out?

Hart listened to the money and attendance going down In football. Don't see why he would wait for basketball.
