Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

The guy has done enough for the city of STL to earn the right to become the highest paid 1B. That was unrealistic for us, so he moved on. No hard feelings.

100% this.

He has been the best player in baseball over the last decade, he deserves to be compensated as such.

He helped bring two WS titles to St. Louis, you got the best years of Albert Pujols.

Be happy you had him for a glorious ten years.

From what I have seen/read/heard about him he is a great guy that does a ton for the community, where he chooses to play baseball doesn't make him a POS.

It was a very smart move for Albert to go to the AL, he just extended his career by a couple years.

lol he mad

Mad or not. He's right.

I was talking about the guy he quoted. Cascade11, he mad

No he isn't, he is way off.

Tell me how he's wrong? Was the part where he said AP was a great guy and did a lot for his community?
Or was he wrong when he said that he's NOT a POS for leaving?

What we've got here is failure to communicate...

Albert Pujols' wife Diedre explains why Los Angeles Angels slugger left St. Louis Cardinals - ESPN

Is this b**** serious?

Thursday, Albert Pujols signed a 10-year, $254 million offer with the Los Angeles Angels that contained no deferred money, as well as a 10-year personal services contract following that deal. The Cardinals' last offer to Pujols was for 10 years and $210 million, with $30 million deferred.

"The offer that people have seen on television I want to tell you what, listeners especially, had that offer been given to us with a guarantee, we would have the (Cardinals) bird on our back," Diedre Pujols told 99.1 Joy FM, a St. Louis-area Christian station that received some of its initial funding from Albert Pujols.

Diedre Pujols, speaking with interviewer Sandi Brown, who is her friend, said the couple initially had no plans to ever leave St. Louis or the Cardinals, the only team the first baseman had ever played for.

"When it all came down, I was mad. I was mad at God because I felt like all the signs that had been being played out through the baseball field, our foundation, our restaurant, the Down Syndrome Center, my relationships, my home, my family close," Diedre Pujols told the station. "I mean, we had no reason, not one reason, to want to leave. People were deceived by the numbers."

Props to them for helping people out but at the same time, I would too if I had that money. She's seriously going to say she is mad and even worse, mad at God? Mad about what? That you've made well over 100 million dollars and were offered 200 million more? If her attitude and self-entitlement reflects Albert, screw em both.

Sorry... her saying she is mad at God rubs me the wrong way. Being mad in general for that matter. Essentially has everything you could ever want in life and she's still not satisfied. Unbelievable

Her and Albert have $250m reasons to not be mad at God. Let's not be selfish here and try and win sympathy. Surprised she said that on a Christian radio show.

The team can still be really good, you just need magical health for 162 games

There's talent I agree. It's just been a long time without Tony at the helm. And the past decade of having Albert anchor the line up was been a constant. But time brings change and change can be exciting. I'm looking forward to the season a lot more than normal. And that's saying a lot.
