Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

.500 team.

Rosenthal going south leaves a very questionable bullpen and Carpenter being hurt impacts the offense.

Hard team to grasp this season. Very un-Cardinal like team in 2016.

How so? Other than the HRs, I would say it is very Cardinal like. Gritty. Can and will beat you with pitching, extra bases, come from behind wins, etc.

In all my years following them (about 20) we have never had a consistent closer. Izzy was the closest but even he gave the fans fits.

Leads the majors in errors. Un-Cardinal like.

A bright spot however is Diaz is becoming a much better fielder. Having him become more aggressive and charging. The ball seems to have helped him tremendously.
Wong? No excuses for him anymore.

Izzy had 217 saves with an average of 31 saves per season. By any measure that's a helluva good closer.

Sure, but factor in seasons of 7, 9, 7, 10, 7 number of blown saves as well.

MR only had 3 season of 7 more in his career.

I realize you have to have the chances to get them but until this year, Trevor had been dominant. Seasons of 45/51 and 48/51

Anyways, off topic.

I didn't know the Cardinals lead the ML in errors.

We have an absolute wimp for a manager. Walkoff BB for CHC on an obvious strike and he just strolls back to the locker room with a smile on his face.

He has squandered so much talent over the past few years. I'm convinced that if Tony was still Mgr we would have at least 1 more ring.

Piscotty! Hopefully the last two games will prove to be the start of a good run. No one in the wild card race is playing particularly well, so string together a few series wins and the Cardinals could create some distance. Hope Siegrist coming out was only a precaution.
