I wouldn't mind Cargo or Gordon. I wonder why the Cards have yet to make a push for Cespedes over the past 6 months? I'm on the fence about Davis. His strikeout rate is alarming, but we desperately need a big bat!
Cespedes isn't worth the money he is asking for
I'm fine with Davis, but not for 7/150. If he has another year like 2014 he isn't worth anywhere near that, and a contract that runs through age 36 for a player like that is almost guaranteed to blow up in your face.
Gordon would be a great fit.
Solid point. I haven't even bothered to search for his asking price. After seeing what the Mets gave up midseason to land him, it made me join the side that thought the Cards could have easily traded for him instead.
So we land Gordon then go after another SP, right?
When you gonna move Holliday to first like he needs to be?
Matt Holliday is working hard at first base in Jupiter, Fla. According to spies who have seen workouts up there, Holliday is doing it on his own to try to lengthen his career, but if he looks really good there, maybe they would still consider Alex Gordon. In any case, with the losses of Heyward, Jon Jay and Peter Bourjos, there isn't much outfield depth. So they'll need to sign someone for the outfield, preferably someone who can play center field.
They're definitely spending the $ and bringing in players. But that doesn't always equate to immediate success. Dodgers fans can attest to that.
The biggest difference, to me, between the Cubs and Dodgers is that Chicago has a young team that, for the most part, is locked in financially for several years. Dodgers fans can definitely agree with what you're saying
