Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

sensed we were not gonna get it done during the 7th inning. you gotta love edman, and i was afraid pujols would beat us.

oneill seem baffled at plate
at least carp didnt make the last out.

0-11 with RISP. 😕

It was still a great season! The streak was very memorable. I can’t wait to see what we do this upcoming offseason.
That streak will never be forgotten by me, nor anyone else. I’m excited on what we are going to do. There is so many questions at this point that we don’t know what the FO is going to do.

I think Edman's approach was very good on what he did with the bat. Man, one run will make you wonder what happened? I’m like you, I thought Pujols was going to beat us. O’Neil did seem off, didn’t he? It seemed like he couldn’t find the ball to hit, or even see it. Arenado seemed off as well. As for Carp, I love Carp, but he has had a great career, and I kind of feel sorry for him the way he has struggled as of late, and now I don’t know where or what he does now.

This surprises me mostly due to the victory ride contracts Yadi and Wainwright signed for next year. Surprised the Cards didn’t stand pat and just rebuild after next year

never thought this would happen after the way they handled september
would have been less surprised if moze had been canned
they apparently had some major differences
would like to hear yadi, waino freely speak their minds about situation

Surprised Boone wasnt the first playoff mgr fired -- wonder who the Cards have in mind to replace him ?

I'm very surprised but not super upset. Shildt drove me nuts trying to squeeze Carp in the lineup daily and sometimes his pitching management made no sense.
They surprised me to this, but just confused. I know there were times that I thought he left pitchers in to long, made some moves out of the bullpen that was questionable, and batted some people in some strange order at times.

I don’t know at this point, what their plan is going forward, and certainly what players they’re going to bring in.

Right now, I’m hearing that players, staffers, and the coaching staff is stunned. Surprised that Mo stayed, and I’m like you for the moment/day anyways. I think it has stunned us all. I’m sure Waino, Yadi, and some more will speak about this situation to come.

That name has circulated this afternoon, but right now, the real person that’s being circulated is Bruce Bochy. It’s going around pretty strong right now, but it doesn’t mean anything though.

I am shocked!!

Can’t see BB. Moe and company will be finding someone who marches to their orders.

Anyway, I’m interested in what happened. I’ll wait and see.

I'm not sure we'll ever find out what the "philosophical differences" really were. I have a feeling the Cardinals are gonna hire from within. I personally think it'll be Oliver Marmol. Cardinals people have been talking about him for years saying he's gonna get a managerial job at some point and he'd be "damn good" at it. I think we'll see what the Cardinals plans are for this offseason depending on who they hire. If it's internal, I don't think they'll do much at all. If it's an outside hire, we could see a shakeup. I think it'll be an internal hire because from what I've heard Mozeliak wants to keep Jeff Albert as hitting coach and an external coach is gonna wanna pick his own guy. Cardinals are looking for their next "yes man". Someone who isn't gonna challenge them on getting better players and doing whatever they say. That's why they couldn't wait for LaRussa to retire. And I'm sure it's probably why they fired Shildt.

We'll see........

I have a feeling it’ll be either Albert, Marmol, or Clapp. I hope it’s Albert. My sister said, “she is hearing that Albert could come in as manager/player” but that is just talk right now.

Cardinals hired Oli Marmol as their new manager. Not exactly thrilled or impressed with this hire. Article I read mentioned Shildt was fired for "pushing too hard". Sounds like he wanted to make changes to the roster or coaching staff and Mozeliak disagreed. I'm not surprised in the least. Mozeliak and the front office don't like to be challenged into making moves. That's why they couldn't wait for LaRussa to retire and why they've been hiring from within. They love their "yes men".

I don’t think this will go over well. I don’t think anything will change. Everything will remain the same way. Shildt wanted to make some kind of changes, and I don’t think that went over well with the FO. As to what those changes were, I have no clue at this point. I don’t think Oli will challenge anything, and he will be able to stay around for years to come.

I 100% agree. Shildt obviously wanted to improve the roster and make a few moves and it infuriated Mozeliak. So Shildt had to go. I don't think Shildt was great either, but they literally just hired his "right hand man" as next manager. Doesn't make a lot of sense other than he's a "yes man" and that's what the Cardinals wanted.

If that’s is the case, then this just came out, then all of this isn’t making sense!
Some have accused Oliver "Oli" Marmol of being a "yes man" for the #STLCards , but he told @ClaibsOnline that's not how he operates
@KMOXSports🤔🤔😳
