Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Nice start by Wellemeyer.

I see they brought Izzy in to get an out in the 8th... I don't like brining the closer in for a pitch or in the 8th then having him sit through the top half of the 9th...

Cards push across another run on an error.

5-3, Thompson still pitching, aiie...

Might see Percival tonight afterall if it keeps going...

Tid, I'm in Cleveland watching the A's and Indians. After watching last night's game from two rows behind home plate, it is not an understatement to say letting Dan Haren go may turn out to be the most regrettable move the Cards have made in the last 50 years. I was in Atlanta for Verlander's start on Saturday. Those two guys have as good a stuff as anyone I've seen since Pedro Martinez was at his best.

Yeah, that one still hurts. Dan Haren and Kiki Calero have done very well with the A's. With the Cards, Dan Haren was just the guy who gave up 11 consecutive hits to the Cubs.

Mark Mulder hasn't proven to be worth that trade.

I know... it looks worse and worse with every start Haren makes.

And they called it after 5 1/2 innings. Mets win 2-0.

Reyes falls to 0-10. Only gave up a two run HR to Wright in the first.

34-41

Adam Wainwright (6-6, 4.58) vs. Orlando Hernandez (3-3, 2.77) tonight in the series finale.

Molina is expected to be activated from the DL today.

Yadie is back. Looper is scheduled to start on Sunday. Eckstein should be activated Friday or Saturday. Jimmy should be playing by next week. Carpenter should be back in the bigs shortly after the All-Star break. Mulder should be back in early August. Preston Wilson (thank God) will NOT be back. Kip Wells is officially in the bullpen. Things are ever-so-slightly looking up for the Cards. That 10.5 game lead for the Brewers needs to shrink to about 6 before the All-Star break, and I'll feel a little bit more comfortable.

...and picks up the win! :rock2:

Thompson had a great start himself... only allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Three innings of scoreless ball by the 'pen, too.

Molina went 2-4 with an RBI in his first game back.

35-41

I have already updated his Wikipedia entry to reflect his triumphant return.

Molina is the man!

2-2 tonight with an RBI.

Too bad it's the only run.

It'll only get worse from here... Wells is in the game.

5-1 Reds, top 8
