Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Finally a big inning for the Cardinals!

6 runs so far in the 5th!

Check out this line: J. Encarnacion doubled to shortstop, J. Encarnacion to third on shortstop B. Crosby's throwing error.

Revenge of the Cardinals!

Duncan pinch-hit for Ludwick and finished the ten run inning off with a grand slam. :rock2:

15-3 Cards, bottom 5.

Cards win by the same score, 15-6.

Six different guys in the lineup had 2+ hits. Good stuff.

The bullpen, aside from Flores, also managed to throw 4 shutout innings.

29-36

Anthony Reyes (0-8, 6.08) vs. Joe Kennedy (2-4, 3.50) today in the series finale.

The Cardinals have lost all 9 of Reyes' starts this season. The offense in those games has been just as horrible as him, scoring only 10 runs in those 9 games.

Reyes went 1-1 in 3 starts down in Memphis with a 1.64 ERA in 22 innings. He had 16 strikeouts, only 3 walks, and a .77 WHIP.

Ankiel is still tearing it up in Triple A... batting .282 with 19 HR and 52 RBI. 54 Ks to only 11 walks, though...

Cardinals win 10-6.

Quite the disastrous first inning for Reyes in his return to the majors. Gave up 5 runs and the Cards trailed 5-1 after 1 inning. Fortunately he didn't give up anymore runs through the next 4 innings.

Ludwick had a career day at the plate. Went 3-5 with a HR and 5 RBI.

Bullpen also pitched well, giving up only 1 run in 4 innings.

Nice to take a series from a team like Oakland.

30-36

Odalis Perez (3-7, 6.19) vs. Adam Wainwright (5-5, 4.66) tonight in St. Louis. Playing those silly Royals again for three games.

Just after the middle of June Central Standings...

1. Milwaukee 38-31
2. Chicago 31-37
3. St. Louis 30-36
4. Houston 30-39
5. Pittsburgh 30-39
6. Cincinnati 27-43

Let's see; Edmonds and Looper have went to the DL. Kip Wells was mercifully skipped in the rotation and they picked up Tomo Ohka.

They did manage to beat the Royals 7-6 in 14 innings last night. Ludwick hit a walk off HR.

Great night for the bullpen... Wells even came in and pitched the last two innings to get the win.

32-37

Jamie Moyer (6-5, 4.40) vs. Anthony Reyes (0-8, 6.34) tonight in St. Louis as Reyes goes for that elusive first win of the season. I predict he gets it. The Cards won a game that Reyes started for the first time this season in his last start. :rock2:

As long as the deal doesn't include Colby Rausmus or Rick Ankiel.

Yeah, I don't know if we'll see Kip Wells make another start for St. Louis. He pitched well in his one relief appearance.

So if Wells doesn't start again... the rotation would be - Maroth, Wainwright, Thompson, Wellemeyer, and Reyes... right? Also Looper when he returns from the DL.

Geez, if Carpenter and Mulder can come back and just give them anything...

Even though the Cards have won every game Wellemeyer has started, he still doesn't have a single quality start. I don't know how much longer he'll last in the rotation before Tomo Ohka is called up from Memphis.

If that happens, the rotation would be...

Maroth
Wainwright
Thompson
Ohka
Reyes

When Looper comes back, he'll probably take Reyes' spot unless Reyes starts winning games. Carpenter and Mulder can't come back soon enough. Although with Mulder, I don't think we should expect much when he returns. Mulder probably won't be 100% until the 2008 season.
