Official Watch Party Thread (NCAAT seeding edition)

We are better than UCLA in any single metric you could you use. Having them seeded higher than us, or Wisconsin, makes no sense.
But UCLA made the final 4 last year! Jay bilas says, who cares if they have lost games, everyone loses games! 🙄BA6F4054-4644-4486-B2DC-05A2562E221D.jpeg

So many lazy bracketologists and pill voters out there. I’ve said it before but this is why Tennessee has flown under the radar for most the year. So many of these idiots combine performance this year with last year, too.

We need Vandy to win a few more games. Our win in Nashville is almost a Q1 win.
Yeah for those reasons I would add Vandy, Colorado and UNC to the rooting list. I think the Buff’s still have a chance to climb into Q1 territory, and UNC is slipping, not just out of the Q1 but maybe out of the tournament. The committee sometimes cites a teams record against the tournament field when seeding

Rosters get turned over year to year now. It’s a lot like football in the sense that every season should be looked at individually. I’m not sure why someone thinks because a team had great success last year, that means they will have success this year. Look at Oregon St.

Should add Memphis to the rooting list since Penny forfeited that game in Nashville 😁

The eye test’s days are numbered. Also, the next tweet in the thread said the NET isn’t valued quite as much as people are led to believe, but that it’s still a factor. Interesting insight into the selection process.

Good. It’s dumb. Nobody can watch that many teams. Also things teams do well defensively aren’t easy to recognize in the eye test

College Gameday Reveal has us not only a 4 seed but not even the top one.

They have us as 14th, the #2 4 Seed.

Behind Wisconsin, Illinois, and Providence.

Ridiculous if you ask me

We have two top 5 wins versus Illinois who doesn’t have a Top 10 win.

Illinois has worse losses than us.

Their NET isn’t as good.

More losses.

What am I missing with them being seen as better?

Lunardi does have Tennessee over Illinois rn tho, guess the first was just College Gameday Crew.

Overall still the top 4 seed. Behind UCLA in that case.

GameDay? Is this the official committee Top 16 or just the yokels from GameDay’s thoughts?

Yokels, they did nothing to explain their reasoning aside from say that Illinois dealt with some injuries and setbacks that weren't really their fault. Said nothing really of Tennessee nor did Lunardi

We could beat Arkansas and Auburn, and Lunardi would move us down to a 5 seed.

And I agree with Jay that they’re a Final 4 contender. But, to this point their resume says their run should start from a position lower than Tennessee’s or Wisconsin’s.
What you do last year should not have jack squat what you are doing this year. No way at this point UCLA should be seeded higher than us. No way no how! But things will take care of themselves. They shouldn’t be judged on where they could be but what they have done and where they are. They shouldn’t get a cushy seed based on last years results, that’s the bottom line. This is 2022 not 2021! GBO!
