I am soooooo feeling Taylor Swift-y these days, 'cause I swear I will never, ever, EVER respect the All-American voting process again after this year. For Rickea Jackson to not be recognized as being at LEAST one of the top 15 players this season is a certifiable travesty.

Tennessee Lady Vols
Original seed: No. 6 (Region 4 in Portland)
First round: Defeated Green Bay Phoenix 92-63 (Saturday)

Something clicked with Rickea Jackson toward the end of the regular season, and Tennessee is reaping the benefits. Perhaps it's the sense of urgency that her collegiate career is coming to an end or that the games are bigger, but Jackson, already an All-American, has taken her game to another level. Her 26 points in 29 minutes against Green Bay mark the sixth time in the last seven games she has scored 22 points or more. Jackson's elevation has the Lady Vols' offense clicking better than it has all season. As a result, Tennessee emerged as one of the most impressive teams of the opening round. The Lady Vols' 58.7% field goal shooting was a season high, and they did it against a Phoenix team that yields its opponents 38.7% on the season.

Stanford guards are really shaky. Ryan is so steady for Iowa State, can see them getting the upset today as well. A lot will depend on the pace of that game imo. I think Stanford will try to make it a track meet to wear Crooks out, but that’s not exactly their style of play.

I do think Bama could give Texas a good game today. With Texas not having a true PG Curry will try to take advantage of that defensively. McQueen, Nye and Barker can all apply a lot of ball pressure.

Timmons was such a loss for them though, she really had a breakout season and would have been the best matchup against Booker, Moore and company.

A lot for Bama will depend on Cody staying out of foul trouble.

This year was Fair's COVID year, so her placement among the all-time scoring records does come with a bit of an asterisk. Still super impressive.

The difference is that Clark (primarily) + Watson are bringing in record audiences. Clark has crossed over from being a women's college basketball star to a sports star. Not even Candace made that leap

For me it's way beyond Candace, Boston, and even Wilson with that ridiculously premature statue. It's the 'Candace Cam', the reporter Holly Rowe covering only her during the tourney, the fact announcers can't actually announce our game for talking about her. I get they're chasing ratings and I get part of it is based in my irrational sports hate of the flopping, arm windmilling, whining. I'm just sick of everything about her and hope they lose soon so we can get on with the tourney.

That and the folks who say if you don’t want Iowa to win it all you’re against growing the game. Bffr. There are so many great stories and players in this tournament. Oversaturation is a thing.

ACTUALLY - I have to edit this - I thought Creme said something dismissive things about Tennessee in the bracket reveal show, but I just rewatched it, 'cause I get pissed when I get pissed, and he actually said to watch out for Tennessee, and there was certainly no laugh. It must have been some other host on the show, or maybe I was thinking of something he said earlier in the year. I remember _someone_ being pretty dismissive of the team on ESPN, but it must have been another person. I will therefore hold fire and award myself 0 stars.
