Official what games to pay attention to thread...

I think Oregon State is slightly better, but Washington St plays UW a little closer. I'd like WSU to win this game

Some are saying they think they will now be NIT bound.

Just curious if anyone's heard anything from the "experts".

That would be nice. So many of these teams from the Big East are straight mediocre and don't deserve to be in. Like South Florida, Seton Hall, WVU, and Uconn.

Pitt is rolling over :shakehead:

Also, root for SMU. It would be a longshot for Marshall to make the field, but if they make CUSA finals, they're a bubble team. It's relatively close right now with SMU, might as well seal their fate early. Go Stangs!

I'd like to see just 2 of those 4 make it and not all 4.

Give someone else a chance like a Tennessee, I'm bias, to show they deserve it.

Don't think this has been posted and I'm not going to start a new thread, but here's another story from govolsxtra with Lunardi quotes.

Lunardi shared an interesting note about a newer area of emphasis for the NCAA tournament selection committee that bodes well for the Vols.

“The committee has been looking more and more at who you play twice, and who you play home and away (in conference action),'' Lunardi said.

The Vols have played the SEC's other top three teams twice this season – Kentucky, Florida and Vanderbilt – and UT's SEC road games included three of the top four seeded teams from what was formerly the SEC West Division, Alabama, Mississippi State and LSU.

UT went 3-3 against the Top 4 in the SEC and played the toughest former West teams on the road.

Marshall is about as close to making the field as Kansas is to an ocean. No need to worry much over this.

I've heard them mentioned in the same breath as Arizona, Dayton, St. Joe's and Ole Miss. If they make their conference final, they become a bubble team.

Although, I think Dayton is on the bubble if they beat Xavier, maybe in.

That'd be great of the committee really look hard a that an rewards is for playing the best teams in th SEC twice.

Dayton-Xavier loser is headed to the NIT while the winner probably slips into the First Four. Has potential to be one of the best games of the weekend, despite the teams involved not being that good. Marshall hasn't been considered seriously for at-large purposes since January. They'd have to win the C-USA to get in (altogether possible, given the tournament's past history).

I don't think Pitt losing hurts us that much. It ends up as not too good of a loss at home, but they also lost their PG for most of the conference season and that is why they won't make the tourney. If they got hot and ended up winning the Big East, they would've taken a spot away from someone.

He said they don't look at the last 10 games of the season anymore, but you'd have to live in a hole not to see what UT has done going down the stretch. UT is a different team since conference play started. If they can penalize a team a certain seed for losing a player to injury or suspension then they need to seriously consider a team's record when they get a player like we did with Stokes. Will they? I wouldn't say anything definite with those guys.

What's day is Dayton Xavier gane?

Friday at 9 on CSS. I'd enjoy seeing either of these teams instead of a fill-in-the-blank Big East school in the field. Much higher boom/bust quotient for both. Dayton has one of the most confusing profiles I've ever seen (seriously, look it up and try not to WTF yourself to death) and Xavier still has an excellent backcourt.

IIRC, they were 99th in the RPI. Hopefully the loss doesn't knock them into the 100s

Also, it means nothing to us, but it'll get about two replies on the Around the NCAA forum, so I'll post it here. If you like fun, fast offenses, you want Long Island to win the NEC title tonight. 75 possessions a game (third-most in NCAA), 82 PPG (they allow 78), Jamal Olasewere is a blast to watch, etc. If you remember, they pushed UNC for 30-32 minutes last year before losing by 15. Put up 87 on them, though.
