Agreed. If you’re lucky to get one quality spring transfer and we’ve identified we need 3-4, then yeah I don’t feel better if we see nothing before then. But he did adequately refute your claim.I will certainly give him credit for the research, but this list doesn’t make me feel any better about waiting for the Spring portal unless it’s for depth only
Nico better improve, as well as receivers and off. Line or running backs won’t matter. It's mainly based on the assumption that our pass game is what it is. Nico isn't going to get much better and our WRs aren't going to create more separation. If that's true, then we'll again be relying heavily on the run game. With Sampson gone, it seems like the only way to win a playoff game is if our OL is good enough to impose their will on a playoff-caliber DL. I don't think that happens without upgrading at least a couple positions on the OL. Adding Moe and Sanders is a start, but adding Pregnon would strengthen what I presume to be our weakest link, LG. Solving the problem now would inspire a lot of confidence heading into the spring, but it's nice to know there's another window coming.
Sam BradfordIf Nico doesn't improve, CJH rumored as a QB whisperer is a fraud. Assuming that Nico plateaued as a RSF is basically assuming just that--that CJH is a fraud.
I've not said that. Nor have I said that Nico will not improve.Sam Bradford
Landry Jones
Drew Locke
Dillon Gabriel
Hendon Hooker
Joe Milton (you can make a case CJH did wonders for him)
All of those guys CJH coached and developed. What a terrible overreaction to say he might be a fraud developing QBs
I Believe that Nico became a little shell shocked when our offensive line and running backs could not protect him for more than 2 seconds. He took a beating in almost every SEC game as well as the playoff game. Any QB will have a difficult time throwing the football with the protection he did not get. It got so he had to run for his life as the season progressed.Nico better improve, as well as receivers and off. Line or running backs won’t matter.
And that should include coaches as well. The former great Dodger manager, Walt Alston, always operated under a 1-year contract. The OL was average at best this year. You gotta upgrade. Make a one year investment and then move on to someone else. You can't play the "we need to put the money in to HS players or players that will be here multiple years" line, because as we've seen...they may not stay more than a year anyway. It is what it is. Bring in the best players that can help you win in the current season and evaluate everything year to year. It's all you can do with the way the rules are currently. There are no guarantees you're gonna keep anyone long term.
