Oil Rig Explosion

so Clinton says Obama is doing a better job than he's being given credit for. He then outlines the 4 things (in order) to do with this crisis. Think these match up?

1) fix the leak (and accept anyone's help)
2) keep oil from reaching shore
3) minimize damage when it reaches
4) find out who did what wrong and hold them accountable

but do 1-3 first

The Moment the BP Oil Flow Stopped - ABC News

Yeah... not exactly an accurate depiction of what happened. I can't open the video as streaming video is blocked out here - So, I can only guess what clip they are saying is the "cap"... Here is the real skinny... Throughout the morning, we began slowly shutting the flow off by closing a choke (installed the other day) a couple of turns at a time. This kept the internal pressure from spiking too quickly and blowing out the formation. Anyway, we eventually closed the choke completely which stopped the flow. The "cap" that was placed on the open hole is to keep debris from going in the hole or anything from damaging the seals on the pipe.

Nice work, sounds cool.

I am looking now on the BP spill cam, and I am seeing how a bunch of ROVs are looking at the ground. Are yall looking for leaks from under the BOP? Everything look good?

The well site is surrounded by ROV's about 200 feet away. They are doing 360 degree sonar sweeps of the area looking for any plumes that may appear. We'll know immediately if there is a blowout in the formation.

looks good, I dont see any bubbles.

Been watching a bunch of this video throughout this whole ordeal, pretty cool they allowed it

From what I was reading the initial pressure measurements were lower than some commentators thought they should be (7000 psi vs 8000-9000 psi).

But I haven't seen any other evidence of leaking . . . at least not yet.

This whole thing could have been adverted if we were able to drill more on-shore and extract the oil-shale in the Rockies. All it takes is common sense to realize that drilling that far down is going to cause problems.
