I guess Christmas came early for all you dooms dayers out there (if you are one you will know it). Now you can complain and gripe out our HFC and our HBBC. You get a 2fer for Christmas. You all must have been real good this year.

I know what point you are trying to make, but there is no comparison between the HFC situation and the HBC situation. Nice try, though.

No need to fire him. After the game Bruce said all the right things:

We are gonna try like heck to get better.
The effort was there tonight.
A few mistakes and a bad break or two costs us this ballgame.
I am really proud of those young men, we just have to get ready for next game.

Pearl is right. I seen the kids playing their hearts out. Everytime they got close the homer refs got their hands into the game. Three phantom fouls in a row. Main thing is the Vols never quit. Last season they quit plenty. Pearl has already improved the team even though some would like to focus on the negative.

Stop stirring the kettle NC. It's Christmas, for goodness sakes.

Somebody has to be the Devils advocate! :devilsmoke: Buzz did start 9-1 a couple yrs ago.

no way. you have to give a new coach atleast two years to turn us around. i think pearl will still lead us to the tourney this year. pearl has a great recruiting class coming in next year watch out for the b-ball vols. pearl can coach and appears able to recruit so he is already one up on phil. if phil don't turn up a 8 or 9 games won this year they need to send him packing.

Buzz couldn't hold Pearl's jockstrap in a suitcase. Pearl has won at every level he has coached, it's pretty obvious how much better this team is. All this improvement with less talent is pretty impressive. Pearl will get TN back in the top 25 consistantly, bottom line.

PS. I hear the mighty Buzz is doing wonders at Coastal Carolina......

From what I've seen the only difference is the pressing style which will divert some of the pressure off the inside problems UT has. Creating TO's and hitting 3's will win some games..but when they dont fall the team will be avg. and will not be able to overcome the rebounding deficiencies.

BTW CC was 10-19 last yr...Buzz does have them sitting at .500 with mostly frosh and soph players playing a new system. They lost their first 6 games last season.

I hope you aren't serious when comparing Buzz favorably to Pearl.

Just the facts...BTW the SEC is prolly around the 4th or 5th best conference...it's not the Horizon league. Pearl will find out soon enough though.

NC, one problem with Buzz was consistency. We'd beat Florida, then lose to SC, or Chattanooga.

Buzz's teams would get blown out and give up. A Buzz coached team would have lost by 30 last night.

It's not so much the results at this point, but the effort.

Doesn't this team have one of the best Guard combos in the country?? exactly...BTW those teams favor to the schedule you've played so far this yr...Texas shouldn't be ranked at this point..they're falling like a cheap suit.

LOL at that post. Anyone who has watched TN play this year can tell the difference in what a good coach can make. What has impressed me the most is how much harder the kid's are playing. Yes in the post TN is lacking in size, yes pressing helps to remove some of this problem, and yes this season TN must make shots from the perimeter to overcome their lack of size downlow.

With all that being said, I believe that Buzz Peterson the human being is a good guy. However, Buzz Peterson the basketball coach isn't that impressive to me. I don't think Buzz Peterson was good at evaluating talent to play the level of competition the SEC offers. Thats what impresses me the most about the job Pearl has done. Pearl has taken some kid's that IMO are mid-major prospects and vastly improved their overall basketball IQ. Wait and see when Mr. Peal gets his own recruits in here. I think he will have TN competing every year for a chance at the conference title and an NCAA bid.

Maybe you can lobby once Donavon leaves UF to get Buzz in there as his replacement, since you hold him in such high regard as a basketball coach. I would love to see a Pearl coached team play against the mighty Buzz Peterson. If you could ever make that happen Gator I'd pay top $ to watch it in person. LMAO......

Buzz or Doherty would do fine at a school like UF or UT where football is king.
