Yeah, he started 9-1, but the ended up 15-14 after losing to friggin George Mason in the NIT.

When Tennessee lost under Buzz, it generally wasn't close. He didn't know how to teach his guys to keep their cool when the other team goes on a run.

Since they have such a proven track record..lmao, Gosh is it anymore obvious that you're a Tarheel Homer?

Like I said, bring in Buzz to UF and see the direction UF's program takes. Buzz didnt do anything here but get progressively worse. I am all for hiring Buzz at UF though, I am gonna start the website www.outwithdonavoninwithbuzz.com and you can be the moderator. I am sure Gator fans will love it. LMAO......

I know what point you are trying to make, but there is no comparison between the HFC situation and the HBC situation. Nice try, though.

Your right. As much as I like what I see about CBP, he has yet to win a Conf. Championship much less a National Championship. :lolabove:

Hey, I love the Tar Heels as much as anyone, but Buzz just couldn't get it done in Knoxville. I wish him luck, however, and I really liked him. But being a nice guy and Michale Jordan's rommmate only gets you so far.

NC, it is this close to Christmas, and you are still inviting the barking dogs down to the water. That is shameless.

In that case, riddle me this. Could Buzz or Doherty do what pearl did at UMW? I think Doherty could, but I don't know about Buzz.

Pearl beat up on weaker competition and he had one good run in the tourney...besides that I think both could do that. Buzz already has CC improving.
Also, Pearls background might worry me with the recruiting scandal against Illinois.

Without looking at the schedule, I would say that CC would not be facing Big East or ACC competition either. I am not completely sold on Pearl, however, that style of play seems to get the most out of the talent ala Rick Pitino (it really hurt to type that name).

Yes. All I want for Christmas is a pink slip for Pearl then we give Cut a raise and let some student assistant coach basketball.

I know his style..dont you remember those UF teams that pressed and one made it to the Final Four..the system works good if you are deep with athletes cause during the course of the season the fouls and minutes will catch up to you.

CC also doesn't have ACC or Big East claiber of players either.

Buzz or Doherty would do fine at a school like UF or UT where football is king.
You've apparently forgotten, Buzz WAS the coach at UT and did absolutely nothing.

I knew that you would understand the style.

It also helps to have a quick 6'9 post player that can get the rebound and fire the ball out for the fast break. UT will have to address depth issues, and this team is probably not the one to do it, but it sure is fun to watch.

He did split with UF every yr and won a few big games...but most of the mens bball coaches at UT haven't lit it up either bro!

Buzz Peterson did nothing to keep his job at TN. Like I said earlier he had his chance to come in here and turn this program around. Did he do that? NOOOOOOOOOOOO! What part of that can you not understand. I am not saying Bruce Pearl is the next Ray Mears, however its obvious how much better these kids are playing not only from an effort stand point, but fundementally as well. Pearl will need time to apply his system, recruit the athletes to fit his system, and develop the players within his system.

I see that you aren't sold on Pearl yet, as you bring up some lame theory that he will be hindered in recruiting by his issue with Illinois. Have you seen the class he is bringing in next year? Last time I checked it was a top 10 class with minimal time to gather. Doesn't look to me that his issues from the past have hindered his recruiting thus far. Stealing kids from TN is gonna get harder and harder to do. Bank on it! I can tell you right now that if Bruce Pearl was the coach at TN when I was playing in high school in Clarksvegas, he would have had 2 current NBA players that would have laced it up for TN.

But neverless, you seem to think Buzz Peterson is this wonderful coach. Bringing up Doherty makes me laugh as well. Wasn't that guy run out of town? Thought so. You can have Buzz Peterson, I'll take Bruce Pearl any day of the week and twice on Sunday. TN's mens team is a work in progress, but I for one can see the huge light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah, and he didn't inherit a top ten program like PF either.

But you're right, Bruce Pearl hasn't loss to Vanderbilt yet. PF has.

NCGatorBait, you definitely have a right to your opinion about Pearl. However, I have noticed that he is doing much more with less talent this year. I believe with some of the players we lost to graduation like Scooter in there, we would have more offensive power. Pearl has done a magnificent job so far this year. Buzz was and is a good man, but he just didn't have the discipline over his players. The players last year just didn't play with heart like they are this year. You can attribute that to Pearl.

Pearl is a phenomenal coach and everybody on this board I've seen love the guy, so whats the point of starting a thread like this?

If the Fulmer apologists had their way, Buzz would probably still be here, since they love mediocrity and underachieving. Pearl is like the direct opposite of Fulmer. His team overachieves, and Pearl blames himself when UT loses instead of his assistants or a few plays that didnt go his teams way.

Does nobody remember what Pearl did last year with his team in the tournament? And now taking UT a team that finished last in the SEC last year and was expected to be even worse this year, they go out and beat a top 10 team. Pearl is a phenomenal coach.

If you dont believe UT's players are underachieving or underdeveloped under Fulmer read this:
