OK, TD or not TD, that is the question....

Did Pig score in OT or not?

Then you also need to learn that all ya have to do is touch the plane of the goal line with the ball. After that it doesn't matter if it comes out or not!

For the 1,276,342,565,981,436th time he DID NOT have control of the ball when it touched the edge of the goal line. He had already lost control.

I felt like it was a fumble in real time. The replay confirmed it. It hurt like hell, but it was the right call.

Pig lost control at the 1/2 yard mark.. It is plain as day.. 100% a fumble.

You know, the more I watch that gif, I have two thoughts -

1. Was his thumb (along with the rest of his hand, obviously) still on the ball when it crossed the plane? If so, I guess I can see the argument that he still had possession (or at least, see the argument that it was inconclusive)

2. Does it look to anyone else that if he had just kept two hands on it, he might have made it to the plane before his knees touched anyway?

He had the ball in one hand reaching for the goal line. I agree it came out of his hand, but I disagree that it was before the goal line!

That gif makes me sick. If he had just held on with two hands, maybe he doesn't get in,but we have a chance to punch it in. Can't blame him for trying to make a play though. He's going to be a stellar player for us. I hope he puts that behind him.

its amazing how much clearer it is on a HD tv in super slo mo

If you watch, he loses the ball with his right hand, and you can tell its unintentional because his right hand continues moving towards his left.

Sometimes crap happens, it was 100% a fumble, he wasn't trying to switch it to just 1 hand, the ball just comes out.

Had he been just switching hands, his hand would not keep traveling towards his left hand. He had force on the ball with both hands, when he starts to lose it, that applied force from his right hand is reapplied in the motion you see. Once his right hand force was gone, the ball trajectory changes and starts coming out.

His fingers are still touching the ball when it crosses the goal line, but control has already been lost

I don't agree with all that either, because once he leaves his feet he lets go of the ball with the right hand, and reaches for the goal line with the ball in his left hand.

If that were true, his right hand would be moving away from his left. It's simple physics man, he lost control, and the motion you see is the applied force from losing the ball

The network footage appears that he lost control of the ball about 1 foot out as the GA defender arrived and fumbled the ball into the end zone

There is some endzone footage posted on here that provides so more clarity. He did not lose control of the ball...he held the ball horizontally and had control of it for 1 sec after the GA defender impacted him . By that time the ball had broke the plane

As the ball turned horizontally , in the network footage it looked like he had lost control and the ball was floating forward ...but he still had a firm grip on the left side of the ball that could not be seen except in endzone footage.

Unfortunately , the refs did not have this angle ...and the floating ball angle from the network footage would impress Houdini. Its hard to say it was a bad call given this.

The game was a huge step forward . Loosing by a controversial call in OT is a much better problem to have
than getting crushed in regulation

Pig loses the ball when the ga defender makes contact.
The other angle is clear on that. But from the other angle you can't tell if he crosses first. Conbine the two and it gets too close to call imo

Too close to overturn the call on the field!

Yes, from the other angle, you see him let go with the right and reach with the left hand. The ball is parallel with the goal line, but from that angle it is hard to see if it breaks the plane.

Seen that called a TD more often than not. Still, what's done is done. Mr. Ritter & Mr. Slive have saved yet another SEC "window dressing". It's all about the $$$. Pig Howard, you made a valiant effort & the VOLS gave it their all. CBJ & this team has it going.

2/3 say no, which is actually higher than I expected but it still means a third of our fan base is in a serious state of denial right now.

Pause this video at the 7-8 second mark . It is clear that Pig Had possession at this point . The defender has 1 knee on the ground and both hands on pigs back. Pig lost control less than 1 second later as his body made contact with the pylon.

If you take the facts and refer back to the sideline 'network footage' ...as the above noted events happened , the nose of the ball was halfway over the chalk of the goalline.
