Okay, does anybody actually think we beat Oklahoma (poll within)?

Do you believe the Vols will beat Oklahoma this Saturday?

I'm hoping for the best, but I'm prepared for the worse. Between our 4 different coaching changes these last few years we have been the most patient fans in all of college football. I'm going to be patient a little bit longer.

If Trevor Knight poos the bed then we have a real shot. We are just so young and the OL hasn't shown they will be able to deal with those guys. If Worley can play a full game like his first half Saturday we can have a shot.

I got OU winning 31-17 right now.

Pretty certain you don't have to wait until Saturday for the doom and gloom threads.

Yeah, but there's a certain breed of poster that emerges during and shortly after games that provide a level of comedy through their unbridled outrage not seen Monday - Friday. The entertainment is a good consolation for losing a game imo.

Facts say OU has a big experienced OL and the Vols have a young, quick, inexperienced, undersized DL. OU has a big experienced DL, the Vols have an inexperienced, underperforming OL. OU plays a lot of upper classmen who have experienced a lot of success over their career, UT doesn't. The game is in Norman and will be the first road game for about half of the UT team.

Now, draw your own conclusions but don't question the fandom of rational folks who aren't exactly confident about the Vols' chances this week.

This year will be tough for the Vols, I think the game will not really be in question but won't be a blowout. Something around 38-17.

However, next year will be MUCH different.

As much wishful thinking as I can muster, I predict we lose to Oklahoma. Too much talented experience to overcome. This is a man vs. boy game. I as a fan am going to write it off as a loss on our way to a 6 or 7 win season. I hope the players won't write it off and inflict some hurt on them, but to come out with a win would be a miracle.

With our starting LT out for the season and now our most productive TE and WR out indefinitely I fear the of fence struggles. With OK going fast our defense wears down and its Oregon v2. I just hope we come out of the game healthy! Don't need this game to get bowl eligible. Come home whole and get rested and ready for the dawgs with Wolf and Pearson hopefully ready to go.

Are people saying yes because they honestly believe that, or are they saying yes because they just wanna pump sunshine?

i voted yes. carefully worded question...

do i believe my Vols will win? yes. I am a sunpumper til the end.

do i realistically EXPECT them to win? no...i think we are a 7 or 8 win team this year and CBJ is right on track with his 4 year rebuild.

gotta believe in something though...and i believe in my VOLS.

Ha. Yeah I knew that someone on here would try to pick at the question and look for anyway to change it from a simple black and white query into some giant gray area with no accountability. That's par for the course here. You can practically set your watch by it.

Unfortunately, the words aren't as different as you want them to be. According to thesaurus.com, the definition of "expect" is to "believe strongly". You would have had a point if I had written "do you believe the vols could beat Oklahoma?" But I asked "do you believe they will?" That plainly means, "do you think it will actually happen?" Not " would you like to imagine it would" as you seem to be proposing. According to dictionary.com, "believe" means "to have confidence in the truth of", surely you're not actually arguing that you have confidence something will happen, but don't regard it as likely to happen, right? Because that would be crazy.

I'd love to see us pull off a W in Norman. Anything can happen. So I believe there's a chance, but I think it's really slim. Realistically, Stoops has not hidden his feelings on the SEC. I think he wants to step on our throats as we're the only league opponent they'll face until the playoff, should they make it. I think we may have a rough Saturday since he'll probably want to try and prove a point.

If I were bUTch, I'd show that Inky speech to them again this week and hopefully, we'll punch them in the mouth, play some strong D, make a few key plays, shake things up a bit, and let everybody know that Tennessee don't take the back seat to nobody.

Go Vols!

If people think our offensive line has been bad up to this point against a Mountain West and Sun Belt team.....and then think somehow that changes against OU......They are in for a big dose of reality.

Oklahoma's roster of 116(includes walk-on) is made up of the following:

23-seniors & redshirt seniors
20-juniors & redshirt juniors
34-soph and redshirt sophs
35-fr, and redshirt fr.

we have young talent. they have EXPERIENCED TALENT. They are at home. They will be in the final four selection and want to beat down any SEC team, to impress the selection committee. They will be no letdown, nor letup. their schedule is cupcakes. our schedule is
brutal.
As much as I would like to be competitive, there is no reasonable hope of keeping it within 5 TDs.

Our "D" will keep it close... They have secondary issues. Our WR's should be able to have success. Worley needs to play smart and not try to be a hero. If we rush for 150yds. We will win. Don't expect it but very possible. JMHO..

99gator needs his vote retracted.

Because that statement directly says "we'll get blown out" which implies he is making that statement from the stance of a Tennessee fan.

Either take his vote back or change his name to 98volunteer.

Why would a fan of one of our biggest rivals spend so much time on our board? Must be a closet Vol fan....I couldn't care less what the univ of fla does or says on their boards...much more important things to do in life!
Beat Oklahoma!

QB problem has been solved, see bowl game against BAMA

Back off the ledge people. It's like the only game people remember from them was the Alabama contest (admittedly impressive).

This team lost to an AWFUL Texas squad 36-20 and got blown out at Baylor 41-12. They suffered from inconsistent/poor QB play through long stretches of the year.

I'm not saying Tennessee is my pick to win, and Oklahoma IS a great team. But it is not just impossible for the Vols to go there and make something special happen! This loser mentality needs to leave Knoxville and never come back. GO VOLS!!!
