OldTimer’s Dugout - General Topics, Chat, Random Photos and Memes.......No Politics

I didn't start saving much until I was in my middle 30s. And my employer had to talk me into it then. That was when they first came out w/the 401K program. I'm very glad I did join that day. The company match thing was great. What amount of $$ you put in for savings the company would match it ( a week). I still have a nice little savings nest but I have to guard myself from it by going out & just spending it on luxury items. They say don't touch it .... leave it alone but some folks go out & buy luxury cars boats & log cabins in the woods.

I remember when my dad was trying to convince my cousin when he was in his 20s (29 y/o man now) to defer income and invest in either a 401k or some kind of retirement account like a 401k and then, because of the deferred income and corporate matching (of up to 6 or 7%), that he'd be saving for retirement AND taking home more money each month. My cousin didn't believe it until he got a pay stub after doing it for 2 weeks. It blew his mind that the above was true.

Also, one way for anyone of any age to preserve or grow their wealth over time is an index fund that follows the DOW or NASDAQ and invest in it weekly or twice a month.

J Lo and Ben Affleck are officially getting a divorce. Jenny From the Block filed today, the 2nd anniversary of their wedding ceremony. No prenuptial agreement, even though this was her 4th and his 2nd marriage. Who could have seen that coming? Neither one of them are the long term commitment type. Cue the Ben Affleck meme with him smoking a cigarette…
I would NOT buy them a wedding gift and would have told them, I'll get you something for your 10 year anniversary.
They are both attention whores and not very smart imo.

Prime is such a D-bag.

He comes across as someone who thinks he can BS his way into getting enough elite talent to make a winning program, while at the same time, everyone knows he'll jump ship if an opportunity for himself comes along.

For proof, what's the longest he's spent with any team at any level?

This one came out when our team was visiting Cocoa Beach, standing by for the Tangerine (Citrus) Bowl.

Met up with the Tangerine Bowl Queen and court. They had heard through the “dancer” grapevine that we were coming!

Got to ride out onto the field until security pulled us off the parade floats.

Playing career, he spent 5 years each with the Falcons and Cowboys. Coaching career, the longest he has been anywhere at any level is 3 or 4 years.

Astros now have a 5 game lead in the AL West. Mariners likely will miss the postseason. They are going to have to get some offensive reinforcements if they want to compete. The only reason they have a positive run differential is because of how great the pitching has been.

Phillies have a rough stretch with the Royals and Astros following this series and then we have a 4 game set vs each other again that will very likely decide the division. Braves are going to have to buckle down and win 5 of the 6 remaining games against them.
