Excellent footnote to history! Thank you.Seems somewhat appropriate today.
Some here might remember that Pete Rose and Tim McCarver were both 1959-1960 Tennessee football recruits. Both got on campus in Knoxville before choosing baseball out of HS.
McCarver, an All-Memphis end, was down to Tennessee and Notre Dame and has said he would have gone to UT if football.
It would have been a nice start to building an early 60s baseball team.
Thanks for the knowledge. Little bit before my time but I'm sure WTOB can remember this ..Seems somewhat appropriate today.

Aren't we all? Time passes on. Does it not?
I sure as heck hope not. Most married 34 year old men aren’t having sexual relationships with 16 year olds. pretty sick in my book…Aren't we all? Time passes on. Does it not?
I bet it happens more times than you can shake a stick at.I sure as heck hope not. Most married 34 year old men aren’t having sexual relationships with 16 year olds. pretty sick in my book…

Court doc: Pete Rose accused of statutory rape
A document in the John Dowd-Pete Rose defamation lawsuit alleges that the former player committed statutory rape in the 1970s.www.espn.com
I don’t care if he cried. Fact is he transferred away from a service academy so he is Grade A loser in my book.He left the Academy to pursue a one in 10 million dream of being a 1st round pick and Pitcher in MLB. A reasonable person wouldn’t fault him for that. Just his decision to go to LSU.
“Skenes, who recruited the Air Force Academy instead of the Academy recruiting him out of high school, cried when he left the Academy after his sophomore season. Kazlausky informed him he had no choice but to transfer to another college if he wanted to be a first-round pick and a major-league pitcher.”
