Seems somewhat appropriate today.
Some here might remember that Pete Rose and Tim McCarver were both 1959-1960 Tennessee football recruits. Both got on campus in Knoxville before choosing baseball out of HS.
McCarver, an All-Memphis end, was down to Tennessee and Notre Dame and has said he would have gone to UT if football.
It would have been a nice start to building an early 60s baseball team.
Pleased to meet you! Here are their HS visit shots then.
Most don’t have no clue what athletes at the Academies go through. A sophomore who’s told he has a chance to be a first round pick, and is encouraged to transfer by his coach to pursue a one in a million life long dream isn’t a loser in my book. David Robinson and Paul Skenes are unicorns.I don’t care if he cried. Fact is he transferred away from a service academy so he is Grade A loser in my book.
Actually David Robinson spent all 4 years at Navy, believe he got some kind of waiver saying he didn't have to fulfill his commitment due to his basketball career. Most don’t have no clue what athletes at the Academies go through. I agree whole heartedly. He was encouraged by his head coach to seek out a path toward that number one pick and it was nonexistent at the AFA. Kudos to his coach. Most don’t have no clue what athletes at the Academies go through.
