My memory is fine. The bashers were pi$$ed that we only won by 29 and we're knit picking. Others were saying BG is not a bad team. Actually the bashers were calling BG trash. Then when Saint Fuente barely beat them the bashers announced them very good and heralded the idiotic statement by the BG coach.

I watched Memphis-BGSU. Babers' comment has no basis in reality.

UT could have put up 70 on that team. Memphis had to really clamp down to slow down their offense (and to their credit, they did). The UT offense we saw last week would outscore U of M.

we gave up 30 points and 500 yards to BG through 3 quarters...when would you say we started "clamping down"?

Show me where I said Memphis wouldn't score on UT and you might have a point.

4th quarter, same as Memphis did. The difference is we had already iced the game by then.

It's all about matchups. Look at Memphis. They are a great passing and DL team.

Now look at our weakness. We are a poor passing defense and poor OL team.

Memphis would have the advantage. JMO

gotcha..comparative scores are only instructive when they line up with your subjective opinion. When they lead to a different conclusion they should be ignored..got it. Thanks

Our OL is plenty good enough to keep Memphis at bay. Just keep Crowder far away and play the freshmen.

Lynch can throw on our defense, no doubt. Can they stop Hurd, Dobbs, and the passing game together? I doubt it.

but that WAS the logic you used to say vols would beat memphis, was it not? Who said this?

If a person can't look at UT and Memphis and see UT would beat them then there's no talking to them.

Great DL? Memphis couldn't get a pass rush against Cincinnati, letting a freshman throw for a ridiculous amount of yards.

I agree that they pass well. It would be a great game, but we would run up and down the field on them. Ole Miss is soft, and we are much more physical. Not even close.

I dont get too much into "if we played this team, or that team that we had a common opp with". We play our schedule they play theirs.

Right now we are 3-3 and more importantly 1-3 against the measuring sticks on our schedule.

After that, the rest is just speculation.

Isn't part of that also because of how much closer it is to Oxford, Starksville, and Tuscaloosa than it is to Knoxville?


Not to mention it pretty much also takes about the same amount of time to travel from Memphis to Baton Rouge, Auburn, and now Columbia (MO) as it does to travel from there to Knoxville?
