That proof will come once Boise State joins a legit BCS conference (PAC-10 perhaps?) and continues to have the same level of success playing tough competition every week.
Boise has only beeen playing D1 football since 1996. I dont know why people think the conferences that have been around for years and years will just add these flavor of the month programs. BSU, South Fla, etc... granted, have experienced success but its all been recent success not long term.
They need to get some experience under their belt before they're allowed to sit at the adult table.
eff. this is the kind of game i hate seeing on boise's schedule. it's a completely winnable game for boise, but it's an ooc, bcs conference, sec game that will give them ammo when they claim they should be in the title game. i'd rather them have to play GOOD bcs conference teams that will beat them (like va tech next season) or else not be able to schedule any bcs conference opponents so they don't really have any claim.
agreed it could. For the "Big boys".
Fresno is far less of a storied program if we're making that comparison. Again, thats not my rule. The whole "teenager" analogy came from somewhere else.
I guess after they curb stomp Oregon State to open the season this year, it'll be because the Pac 10 is weak.
I say if a TCU or a Boise State run through their schedule undefeated, regardless of how long they've been around, or who they did or didnt schedule, they have a valid argument to get a shot at it. College football is about money. The powers that be must not think those markets are worth the risk, and most "big boys" wont play em'.
Are they scared? I dont know. Should they be? Hell yeah. Set up the Vols with a home and home and see who gets wrecked.
If you win, you should get a shot. Period.
