vandy is supposed to be the team that everyone laughs at and plays the 3rd string at some point in the 3rd quarter.
if you can't tell this isn't your father's vandy, i don't know what to tell you.
and all the credit goes to 1 guy, that's the head coach.
I think you've overstated their suckage a little. IIRC they played UT pretty close all thru the 90's, even though yes they always lost. But they weren't getting thrashed like you describe.
They've definitely stepped up their game. Are they serious contenders? We'll see. IMO they were one no-call on a pass interference from beating USCe last year.
i can't believe people are fighting this.
don't nitpick here ajnd there.
vanderbilt traditionally sucks. that's their role. that's who they are.
they don't suck right. are they awesome? no. but, they play the game well and get the most out of what they've got. that's coaching.
and i say all this regardless of how this game ends, because this game isn't over.
exactly. it's like saying "omg Wyoming was the ish in 2008 b/c they totes beat UT!!"
He won 9 games last year in the SEC at Vanderbilt. Think about that. Did u ever think in your life you would say those words? They beat us 41-18. Dominated us. UGA didn't do that not did USCe. Yes, he can coach. I don't like him, but this saying he can't coach is ridiculous.
I guess this argument calls for perspective. Perspective of what Vanderbilt has been since about 1950. A trash heap. Along comes Franklin and now they smear us (admitedly we were horrible, but still) plus they played toe to toe vs USCe, UF, and Northwestern. Georgia was the only lopsided loss they had. When did you think you would ever say that at Vanderbilt? And for all the religious recruiting followers, compare Vandys classes to many of those teams they are beating. Yes, as much as James Franklin is a douche, he can coach. That is why we hate him and think he's a douche. That and the fact he is a douche.
The problem I have is that I've seen this all before. I can think of about 5 previous Vandy coaches going back to George MacIntyre that had a slightly decent year and supposedly were changing the culture at Vandy. Franklin may indeed be different, but forgive me if I'm in "show me" mode when it comes to Vandy.
