Oliver is a VOL

Im pretty sure that his coach told him that ND would not offer if he was committed to Tennessee, thus the de-commit.

What is up with the New Jersey/Notre Dame connection. It seems like they go in there and get 2 or 3 guys a year.

"I talked to coach (Charlie) Weis (Tuesday) morning," Oliver said. "He just said he wanted me to be a part of the family. He said he faxed the offer to my coach and it should be at the school (Wednesday)."

now he's saying he rushed his desision and Weis is all over him.

I really don't want this kid after the decommitment. He will be lucky if he still has an offer from us later in the fall. Let him go to ND and lose 8 games a year.

I really wish you would go somewhere else and post dumb things eight times a day. That would then clear some room for more high quality posters.

I think we had a steal in Oliver. I hope that he looks around and realizes that the Hill is where he needs to be. On a side note, I understand people feeling jilted, esp when it seems as though it is for ND. I hate ND and with Tate, Smith, and Clausen choosing them over us, well, the pain is still fresh.

It really is amazing how Notre Dame pulls recruits all over the country whenever they want. IMO I think Oliver takes his free visits and stays with us.

Every good Catholic wants to play for ND. It's a religious thing, plus they do have a little tradition...

If he still chooses ND after seeing how they perform this year and how UT's secondary performs, I will be shocked. I know ND is committed to Weis but if they have another year like last year I don't know how much longer he'll be there. Oliver should take his visits and come to the SEC where men play and not Catholic schoolboys. Or maybe he just wants the one on one male attention he'll get at a Catholic school?? :shhh:

Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep athlete Nyshier Oliver de-committed from Tennessee last week, but the Vols still are in the race for his services - along with Boston College, Michigan and Notre Dame. The Irish wasted no time in offering Oliver after he notified Tennessee that he was going to take other visits, and the Vols told him it would be best if he de-committed if doing so.

to me this sounds like the staff believes that we have a shot at better players

Mike Farrell said that he doesnt expect Oliver back. Also goes on to say the he's surprised we didnt pull our offer completely.

Maybe so, but it could be something like this too: You (Oliver) need us a lot more than we (Tennessee) need you.

Do we plan on locking up someone soon? Have you heard anything? What about the DB from Ohio? Is he still in big trouble or has it died down?

D.J. Swearinger took Oliver's spot IMO.

Haven't heard anything about anyone else but I'm not a huge recruiting guy either.

Looks like we are going after talent to run and defend multi reciever sets. I say that because we will have tons of speed guys on both sides of the ball. Also guys like Rod Wilks moving to different positions so their speed will be a bigger asset. I would not be surprised if he(Wilks ) ends up as a LB.

It's been going on for years at Tennessee now.

Kevin Burnette came in as a safety.

Ryan Karl, a safety.

Two of Tennessee's starting LBs (Ellix and either McKenzie or Myers-White) will have been recruited as safeties coming out of high school or JUCO.

Walter Fisher came in as an undersized speed rusher at DE (he's now a DT)

Chris Walker came in as a LB.

Andre Mathis came in as a LB.
