Once Impressive List, Now Average!!!

Don't think it's going to be a problem. Doesn't look good at all for Ambles coming to UT. He got two seperate in home visits yesterday from the staff and decommitted anyway. His dad says we are still in it, but the writing is on the wall.

Believe it or not, I'm fine with that. I think we have areas of greater need...

Would love to have him but enough time as been spent!!! IMO

I agree with most of the original post except for telling Ambles to go somewhere else. Ambles would be more than welcome at Tennessee if he has the desire to be a Vol. If not, I wish him the best of luck. I truly believe we will end up with a great recruiting class. I don't really give a flying **** what Rivals, Scout, or ESPN ranks it as long as our coaches think they are getting the right players for our system(whatever that may be). The kids we do end up with will be showing their desire to represent our university(not just helping a coach climb the ladder) and that is much of the equation when talking about being coachable and putting it all on the field. They will also be showing they are smart enough to distinguish between someone selling them a quick fix lemon or a true classic that just needs a little more TLC but will be much better than that quick fix when all is said and done.

I think we're doing quite well considering. We were able to hold onto some players (like James) that I thought we would lose. And we're hearing from some players who seemed to have little to no interest (Hunter, Stone). I hope we keep it up and finish strong.

If you told me last Wed that we would still have an average class...I would have been alright with it...

I think it is just as likely as not that DD and crew advised Ambles to calm down and really think about what he wants to do... all part of that integrity thing, you know?

So with all our other needs you want us to sign 5....yes 5 WR with 2 starters coming back. Thats flawed..IMO
But u are entitled to ur opinion as am I...

Injuries have a knack for popping up reeeal quick, as we all witnessed this past season. You can never have too many wideouts, and IMHO, the ones we have coming back aren't anything special. I'm not saying they're scrubs, but they're far from gamebreakers, which is what we need (amongst other things, I know). Besides that, there's no guarantee that the wr's available next year will be as good as the ones this year. I think we should get 'em while we have the chance. I'm all for bringing in 5 wr's as long as we're efficient with our remaining scholarships in addressing more pressing needs. If we do end up signing 5 wr's, the chances are pretty damn good at least one of 'em turns out to be an all-star.

V,B!

1. Ambles
2. Hunter
3. Milton

Meline at CB but even he would only be #4...
So, no. But 3...yes 3 WR? Sure...

Marquis Dixon is listed as an ATH. He was recruited mainly that way and most people say he is on the offensive side of the ball as a potential slot reciever. Not many project him as a corner in this league...

Tennessee is on the way back with this class guys! Rivals dropped us to 19 and then we added Hunter and moved back up to 13. Coach Dooley is working!!! There are going to be many more great committments between now and NSD. The "Big Uglies" are coming!!!

Actually, he is projected as a CB, maybe a safety. He was definitely recruited on defense. I have not seen 1 person say he will play offense...

Everything I have read says he was recruited for the 'Arenas' role on the team. CB and kick returner. They talked about getting the ball in his hands (but they are talking about on kick returns) maybe that is where you got that he is recruited to play offense.

Coach Dooley is doing excellent. He has salvaged the majority of our recruits. Picks Justin Hunter away from LSU (janzen last year deja vu), going after new recruits that turned a deaf ear to X. I think we are going to be surprised the success Coach DD is going to have in only two weeks worth of recruiting.

We just picked up a 4 star WR from another top SEC team and last I checked that's a positive thing. We've got 2 weeks till NSD. Let's see how the chips fall and then we can either be stoked or be ticked. Right now, after Rivals updates us again, we will be 13th. Thompkins leaving and Hunter coming washes out. I am saying right now we finish top 10. Put me on record for saying it ...top 10!

He wants to play CB.

"I like Tennessee the best," he said. "I went down there and I love their facilities. Their facilities are about two years old so I like Tennessee. I know Alabama and Tennessee want me at cornerback and I talked to old man Kiffin and he said he'd use me at cornerback and maybe use me like Eric Berry and move me around to different spots."

I am sorry, I must have been misinformed on him. Thought he was projected on offensive side. I will research further. my fault..

EDIT: 4:58pm
Per TOS on 1/4/2010. He was told by O "that he will play defense, offense and special teams". Also Southern Miss. looking at him for special teams and " Break away ability"

I would count him as an ATH. just like I said but believe he is a WR.. JMO..

The recruiting fallout of X leaving seems to be over. Coach DD is left to salvage a once impressive group of young players committed to the Vols. The players on our board now are Vols and will remain Vols.

If they were committed to the Vols they would still be committed. The Vols remain the same. The only thing that has changed is the integrity of the program's coaching staff has increased.

"OLD Man Kiffin is gone" and he is no Eric Berry. I'm just sayin" He may be great and if he's a corner great, I just think Otherwise. Thanx..

O was not definate on where this kid would play..

Your basing your opinion on what O told a recruit? And O was not the DC...he was the D-line coach... all that aside, we need more help at db than we do at wr...

According to Rivals, we have 16 committments @ this time. We need the following 11 players to get to 27 and have a heck of a class:

Da'Rick Rogers
Markeith Ambles
Corey Lemonier
Chaz Green
Arie Kouandjio
Ahmad Dixon
Damien Robinson
Eddrick Loften
Delvin Jones
Rajaan Bennett
John Cullen

I think from what I have been reading on here and other sites that we are in on all of these players. What do you guys think are our chances with each of these players?
