Donald Trump's warning to Kim Jong-un: make a deal or suffer same fate as Gaddafi | US news | The Guardian

The US president issued the threat at the White House when he was asked about the recent suggestion by his national security adviser, John Bolton, that the “Libyan model” be a template for dealing with North Korea at a summit between Trump and Kim planned for 12 June in Singapore.

The model Bolton was referring to was Gaddafi’s agreement in December 2003 to surrender his embryonic nuclear weapons programme, which included allowing his uranium centrifuges to be shipped out to the US.

But Trump appeared to be unaware of that agreement, and interpreted the “Libyan model” to mean the 2011 Nato intervention in Libya in support of an insurrection, which ultimately led to Gaddafi’s murder at the hands of rebels in Tripoli.

“The model, if you look at that model with Gaddafi, that was a total decimation.
We went in there to beat him. Now that model would take place if we don’t make a deal, most likely. But if we make a deal, I think Kim Jong-un is going to be very, very happy,” Trump said, suggesting that the regime’s survival could be assured if Kim agreed to disarm.

3 weeks before the summit is probably not a good time to be getting confused on this stuff

Trade in your Susan B. Anthony's for this gem... the new White House Military Office coin commemorating the (unlikely) Korea talks.

Trump: "Hi, Kim. Here's a super special coin. This alone is worth more than your annual GDP... will save your economy bigly. OK. We all done here? (Aside) Someone contact Oslo to pick up my Prize."

PS Note Trump is on the left side of the coin.

What kind of goofball s*** is this? :eek:lol:

... and notice how Kim Jong-un keeps his double chin but Trump's jaw is streamlined in a manner befitting a physically fit and much younger man in their profiles. This is narcissism on top of shameless self-promotion... a whole freaking month prior to the darn meeting!

You think Trump’s jaw is streamlined on that coin?

That "commemorative coin" is easy to laugh at because it screams of an excessive need for adulation but aside from simply looking pretentious, is it a smart way to enter into a negotiation? We are still 3 weeks away from this proposed Summit and the White House has already signaled that it is of the utmost importance to them that it happens and how eager they are to celebrate themselves if it does. In light of that, Kim Jong-un will probably feel like he will be able to extract some enormous concessions from Trump in order to just get him to the table. Unnecessarily premature and self-congratulatory displays such as this can put a negotiator at a disadvantage.

You looked that closely at this? How much time did you spend on it? You may have Trump derangement syndrome! Remember, the more we see you suffer the sweeter is the victory, thanks.:clapping:

Close enough to see that it is premature, pretentious, silly, unnecessary, narcissistic and an example of shameless self-promotion. Very typical of Trump and an administration which places excessive importance on accolades and adulation.

I'm not surprised you are defending it though.

Commemorative Coins are pretty standard fare in the military and the coin is for the Military Office of the WH (whatever that is). You wont see these for sale on HSN.

I'm not the one who made the stupid, pretentious coin to celebrate the achievements from a Summit which hasn't even happened yet and may not happen at all.
Well it's not like they could be made the night before.

WhoGAS anyway. You are just triggered.

I'm not tired of winning yet.

Not defending it, spent 1 second looking at it and went on. You seem to be very fixated on the detail of a commemorative coin which surprised me.
If he pulls off the defanging of Kim it will be a sad day for you I guess? Just short of 7 more years, it will go by quickly.
