One Korea ... Soon?

Trump tweeted:

As everybody is aware, the past Administration has long been asking for three hostages to be released from a North Korean Labor camp, but to no avail. Stay tuned!

Two of the three became hostages after Trump took office.

FACT CHECK: Was the Obama Administration Unable to Arrange the Release of Three Hostages in North Korea?

Its really less about the fact that they were taken prisoner during the Trump administration -- that happens to all Presidents, really, and its unreasonable to say it is Trump's fault.

But, his saying that the Obama administration had long been seeking the release of the three men obviously cannot be true as two of them were not taken prisoner until after he left office.

"As everybody is aware" is just standard icing on the typical Trump Sh!t Cake.

Really? That's the best you can come up with? He only 66% lied?

For pity's sake...

Three Americans were being held prisoner in an environment that you couldn't even fathom. Yet, all you can do is point to Trump's words on the matter.

The prisoners were released, are on their way home to be reunited with their countrymen and families and should be greeted as heroes. This is the point where you can shut the hell up.

Look above.

I said its great and the administration deserves credit for it.

There is nothing inconsistent with that and also observing that Trump lied about this just a couple of weeks ago.

How are they possibly heroes? Heroes don't get caught. Remember?

Perfect on cue example of the slanted news reporting by the national media. If has anything to do with Trump create a negative story about it. This is what Trump terms fake news, not actually fake, just slanted anti-Trump. They seek to control minds not just report news.

Both are seeking to control the message, to control minds. Of course, manipulation of the electorate is part of being a politician. That's not the role of the media. They are supposed to report the facts and let the readers/viewers develop their own opinions. Unfortunately, the lines have blurred, and we're getting more opinion stirred in with fact. Intentionally or not, I think Trump being Trump is actually exacerbating it. The more he pushes the "fake news" narrative, the more the media push back. The whole situation sucks. It's hard to know what to believe nowadays.

You are giving the media way to much credit.........both sides......

Wouldn't the better approach be to prove him wrong by sticking to facts and reporting all facts rather than proving him right by slanting everything?

This didn't begin with Trump but it's become more blatant.

Definitely didn't begin with Trump. And, yes, the better way would be to go back to basics. Of course, when Trump calls both accurate but unflattering news, as well as inaccurate news, fake, that's a problem. I think he deserves some blame here.

The best defense the press has would be to be accurate and unbiased, Trumps criticism then would be unmerited.

While I agree with the first part, I don't see Trump ever ceasing criticism of unflattering news, and his followers would continue to side with him against the media.

The news media used to compete viciously for a story like sharks smelling blood in the water. They did not pick/ choose/slant (much) because they needed to sell newspapers, build a name for themselves. Now all the media is owned by 3 or 4 individuals and no one is competing for stories any longer. They have each put an agenda on the table and all stories are compared to that agenda before being published. If the story does not meet agenda guidelines then its not a story. If it is considered a story then its slanted toward the agenda. Freedom of the press no longer exists and the watchdog of government no longer performs their main function.
