Rettig had one offer from a school in Coldsville. I don't see why the staff needed to rush to get him, especially when they weren't that interested.

Other recruits, fans, other people?? There could be a multitude of things that I do know why they did, but when you offer a kid it's because you feel he can play for you. If they didn't think he could play at some level here, why offer him?? Because they are desperate??
I have been back and forth on this. I thought Scroggins was a vol then something would make me feel like he was USC lock. I honestly have no clue now. But I still feel like something is up.
1. Scroggins got the offer from USC at Rising Stars Camp and didn't commit.
2. July 25th annoucement date would be vintage Kiffin. Close to SEC media days.
3. Staff didn't seem to go after Rettig hard at all. They did offer but I still don't feel like we recruited the kid hard. Almost like he was a #2 in the same class.
4. Scroggins mentioned "depth chart" time after time as a factor
5. UT still in it with Bailey who is scheduled to vist in early August
6. USC talk right after the Rising Stars camp about Rettig and Bray
7. I don't see the need in putting off the anouncement if he is USC bound. PC and Kiffin go back. I don't think if he knew he was coming to USC PC would leave Tennessee in holding pattern seeing how important a QB is for us in this class. No need for the pub. You are USC.
Maybe all of this is off base. Who knows but something isn't right and with the recruiters we have I don't buy the slow playing deal. I think they are pretty sure of how this is going to play out or they would have been all over someone. JMO. I have been wrong before. Maybe I am drinking the Koolaid but I am starting to feel like we may end up with Scroggins after this commitment from Rettig.
Seems Matt Ryan played for BC and he's doing well now. As far as the interested part, you are correct, but they still are at an impass with QB recruiting and if they weren't that interested they shouldn't have offered just to save face.
I'd say they wanted to hang onto him so he could be further evaluated and maybe brought aboard if he showed something. They could extend him an offer, but they aren't obligated to accept his commitment.
I agree, but he was at camp and they had plenty of time to evaluate his film before BC ever offered. I just don't think that the staff is earning brownie points with other recruits the way they are handling the QB situation and maybe others as well. They have to remember that this team went 5-7 last year and they don't have an identity on offense at all and need to treat these recruits very carefully early in the process.
That would be cool.
That's ridiculous.
Not really. I have read to many articles on different sites to see that it's July and if even if we are in someone's Top 5 it doesn't mean much if anything at this point. I have seen too many Top 5's change to believe otherwise. I would put Top 3 as the limit to gauge a recruits interest in us. Also, most of the time the bottom 3 of a Top 5 changes more often than the Top 2. Like I said, it's July also.
