Open letter to Dave Hart

I like Butch and all but the man won a total of 5 games last year and that included a loss to Vandy. I love the rah rah aspect and the recruiting is great but all that really matters is wins and we aren't there YET. Certainly pay him accordingly in efforts to keep him if offers come but good grief no need to give away the store.

His ties to Michigan have nothing to do with the Univ Of Mich. This is an idiotic letter written by a fan with too much time on his hands. You are too emotional. Try to be more Spock like in the future and think before you type.

Every time
the topic of the Butch Jones or Vols comes up you throw Zachary Quinto in my face.

I'm upset the team has a new OL -- Zachary Quinto. I'm upset Worley doesn't throw deep -- Zachary Quinto. I'm upset Worley throws deep -- Zachary Quinto. I'm saying this for the last time. Zachary Quinto was a weird, wonderful, unrepeatable event, so stop using him against me.

Dear Mr Hart,

If you believe that Coach Butch Jones is the future of the UT Vols' football program, please consider moving toward contract discussions NOW. I am sure you agree with many of the fans and see significant improvement in the team with a promise for further development.

The demise of the University of Michigan football program has been similar to the University of Tennessee. Their hopes for renewal under Brady Hoke seem to be turning to disaster. There is little doubt that he is on a very short leash and his hot seat is blistering.

It would surprise few if Michigan came calling to Coach Jones. His ties to Michigan are strong. I would hope and encourage that Coach Jones be rewarded with an extended contract, suitable salary, and with a significant buy-out clause should he be tempted to leave. At the worst, the buy-out money could be used to recruit an established coach that could retain the momentum and, at best, Coach Jones would recognize that the University of Tennessee values him and his efforts on its behalf.

I would suggest that you do it NOW rather than wait until after the upset of Oklahoma.

Sincere Regards,
"Stud Muffin" (my street creds name)

Dear Stud Muffin,

I know you mean well, but...:eek:lol:

Sincerely,

Dave

This talk is crazy. I do have to say though, I really believe Butch wants to stay here for his career. He's invested way too much in this program to make a lateral move. Besides, he knows the SEC is the best

I agree, somewhat, that this is crazy talk. However, give it two or three more years. If the fruits of all of CBJ's hard work here start coming on in the form of lots of wins, then if Michigan (or Michigan State, or Notre Dame) is not doing well, it may be time to worry a little, unless there is a solid contract in place. Even then, we may still have to worry a little. CBJ does, as OP pointed out, have his roots in the state of Michigan.

I believe in CBJ. I think given time, we will get back to our rightful place atop the SEC. On the flip side, we can not afford not to give him an extension. Financially as well as athletically. Kids and those kids parents don't want them coming here with a new coach. Too much turmoil as it is.

The deep insecurity displayed by some within our fan base is just pathetic. It's like a guy with an attractive girlfriend worrying that every guy she glances at is gonna be the guy that steals her from him.

CBJ: I love ya baby... brick by brick. Mental toughness. Individuals.

VN: DON'T LEAVE ME EVER!!!! <jumps off bridge>

Can someone pinpoint the exact moment VolNation turned into Taylor Swift?

Well he hasn't got us to a bowl yet because of what he was left with to put on the field. Not his fault. If you can't see what he is building at Tennessee then you do not know football. Butch is the answere for Tennessee.

This won't be popular but ...... That Sounds eerily similar to the argument for Kiffin and Dooley.

I agree that Butch looks like he's on the right track, but to extend a guy's contract before he's even won a 6th game in a season might be the dumbest suggestion for an AD that I've ever heard.

I would guess that it was right around the time people were burning mattresses after Kiffin scorned Tennessee.

We need to run any future contract negotiations by Mike Hamilton first. That way we'll have a clear direction on where not to go.

I just don't see Butch wanting to leave in the middle of a rebuilding job of this size. You can't become a Great coach if you never finish the jobs you start.

Agree with you. In other words, people need to engage their brains before their keyboards or their mouths.
