Open letter to Dave Hart

Maybe I have a morbid sense of humor but I love reading a thread where it's clear the OP had high hopes of generating double digit likes only to watch VN bring out the torches and pitchforks and annihilate the OP....just makes me laugh. Hang in there, OP

Butch isn't going anywhere...If he is successful, He will end up retiring here...No doubt about it...He isn't Lane Kiffin 2.0

Dear Mr Hart,

If you believe that Coach Butch Jones is the future of the UT Vols' football program, please consider moving toward contract discussions NOW. I am sure you agree with many of the fans and see significant improvement in the team with a promise for further development.

The demise of the University of Michigan football program has been similar to the University of Tennessee. Their hopes for renewal under Brady Hoke seem to be turning to disaster. There is little doubt that he is on a very short leash and his hot seat is blistering.

It would surprise few if Michigan came calling to Coach Jones. His ties to Michigan are strong. I would hope and encourage that Coach Jones be rewarded with an extended contract, suitable salary, and with a significant buy-out clause should he be tempted to leave. At the worst, the buy-out money could be used to recruit an established coach that could retain the momentum and, at best, Coach Jones would recognize that the University of Tennessee values him and his efforts on its behalf.

I would suggest that you do it NOW rather than wait until after the upset of Oklahoma.

Sincere Regards,
"Stud Muffin" (my street creds name)

NOT ONLY NO BUT HE***** FU***** NO

Lets have a winning season before we consider contract extensions. While everyone here values CBJ it is absolutely unrealistic to offer him a contract extension as of yet. Win a bowl game (don't care if it is the tidy bowl) then talk contract extension.

What do you think got Tennessee Athletics in the budget mess it is currently in.

I like Butch and all but the man won a total of 5 games last year and that included a loss to Vandy. I love the rah rah aspect and the recruiting is great but all that really matters is wins and we aren't there YET. Certainly pay him accordingly in efforts to keep him if offers come but good grief no need to give away the store.

Well we would of beat Vandy if Worley hadn't got hurt, That would of put us in a bowl game. That being said you name one coach in ncaa football that could of done better with what we had for the last two years. And thanks to Dooleys fine planning and recruiting. Butch has had to replace the entire O-line and D-line this year. I think Butch and his coaches has done a good job when you look how far behind the other teams they were left with. We have the right coaches in place finally. You nega vols will see. Don't hurt yourselves when you jump back on the Vol train.

No basis for this post. If Butch decides to get up and answer the phone call from Michigan there will be nothing to keep him here. Contracts and money are just obstacles that get in the way of one's objectives.

He may not see another school as a good opportunity at some time but when and if he decides to go there will be nothing to stop him.

For him to be successful here he has to get team 118 to a bowl game or his peanut butter goes flat.

His ties to Michigan have nothing to do with the Univ Of Mich. This is an idiotic letter written by a fan with too much time on his hands. You are too emotional. Try to be more Spock like in the future and think before you type.

Maybe more like Sulu or George Takei... Oh Myyyyyyyyyy

Jones has coached a total of 14 games here... Lighten up Francis

Big time.

I'm sure Butch will get a call when Michigan fires Hoke, I doubt he would take the job, and if we only win 6 games this year there wont be any support from Michigan boosters anyway.

Not trying to start pandomonia but was there any substance to the rumors that CBJ had interest in the Washington job last year? Seems that I had read he was listening and interested at the time but could be wrong....hope I am wrong.

I could see interest from Michigan but I could also see them gauge Jim Harbaugh's interest in going home.

Dear Dr. Boom,

Thank you so much for being a badass.

Tennessee's athletic department needed a confident savior. You have taken the challenge and exceeded expectations on every front.

Please do whatever the **** you want.

It is obviously working.

If Les Miles turned down Michigan for LSU, Butch will do the same IF they come a calling.

You are not alone in feeling like that.
It's a beautiful thing.

Put your Butch shield down I like him but no I don't think we need to back the Brinks truck to his door after a 5-7 season.

I agree, somewhat, that this is crazy talk. However, give it two or three more years. If the fruits of all of CBJ's hard work here start coming on in the form of lots of wins, then if Michigan (or Michigan State, or Notre Dame) is not doing well, it may be time to worry a little, unless there is a solid contract in place. Even then, we may still have to worry a little. CBJ does, as OP pointed out, have his roots in the state of Michigan.

So does Les Miles and Saban. Heck, Saban fled the state for a shot to coach in the SEC.
