Open Letter to Scotty Hopson

This post should make all the difference. I think this is exactly what Scotty was needed and was looking for to take his game to the next level. The fire, desire and passion and message boarding skills apparent here are indicative of the level of effort necessary for a Division 1 basketball player to reach his full potential. Spending time reading open letters to players, opinions on which coach would be better for Tennessee's program than his current coach, cute little misspelled word games, and other truly enlightening, pertinent information relayed people who know more coaches than anyone else in a 50 mile range; these are the key elements Scotty has surely been missing in his first two years as a college basketball player....

I'm pretty sure Scotty and the coaches all know what he needs to work on

Well you are wrong! I personally think there should be a coaching page where Dooley and Pearl can get on and seek out VolNation's advice! Instead they have to sift through and find gems like this waiting to be discovered.

I don't exactly see why everyone is flaming the OP. It's a fact Scotty isn't living up to his hype and he's just stating things that can motivate him. What is the purpose of a message board if people are gonna flame him for that? Some of yall really need to get a life.

Scotty's issues have to be fixed from within. Kid's got talent, but is a mental midget.

Sadly, the switch doesn't usually just flip on. Either you have it or you don't.

I agree to certain point. I think if he would learn to dribble, his game would improve, thus giving him some confidence, thus making him more aggresive, etc. Its extremely frustrating to watch him turn a 1 on 1 fast break into a turnover simply due to bad dribbling skills. Its annoying to watch him attempt to drive to the basket and simply lose the ball or kick it out of bounds.

His dribbling does suck royally, but all the dribbling drills in the world won't make him show up when the game is on the line.

Pandemonium, I am sick and tired of your negative attitude and player bashing, REAL fans love the players and realize they are flawless effort machines. If you want to hate, go to the Kentucky board.

(Did I do that right?)

Sometimes it just takes the right big game for it all to click.

My question is this...did Scotty at any point hype himself? Isn't he just a kid from Kentucky that played basketball good enough to go to college and play? Did he proclaim himself the greatest ever to put on orange? Did he say he was going to be as good as Kobe? So who's hype is he not living up to?

I distinctly remember Scotty himself quoting in an interview that he is a One and Done player.

To me, that's hyping himself. He needs to live up to it.
I'll see if I can dig up that quote.
