So, they cancel the press conference with no explanation. Radio silence since.
I see some high level FSU kids in the portal today.

Anyone hearing anything else?

Only thing I saw that in reality isn't probably related was there was a social media push for FSU to boycott playing. But I didn't pay attention to it other than typical social media chatter.

FSU has strong feelings about this, but the football program is a business and it is not going to walk away from guaranteed money from a major bowl.
The results of the UGA game will quiet this noise.

CFP's playoff system is completely controlled by committee. Bias is expected and accepted.
It will be this way with 12 teams next year as well. Someone will get hosed every year.

I guarantee a 13-0 ACC conference champion will not be left out of a 12 team playoff.

Maybe, but not like this. At most you're going to have a few 2 loss P5 teams vying for a last spot and sorry not sorry, they don't have as much of a case.

Team 13 will get hosed just the way team 65 or 69 does in the NCAA bball tournament. It is what it is. Imagine being the 12th ranked team and missing out because Liberty went undefeated with a strength of schedule being ranked dead last in the country . SOS 133 of 133 and OU who beat Texas gets left out because the CFP was being too inclusive. That would be ironic.

I get you but imagine being undefeated, winning your conference and then being left out? That’s quite a bit different than being the 13th team on the fringe. FSU got all time robbed.

It’s not the same as FSU at all. I would just be pissed if in the hypothetical Liberty got in ahead of us after we played an SEC schedule and were #12 and they got in. That would be very on brand for Tennessee.

Much ado about nothing.

With FSU complaining about money, foregoing a bowl-and a NY6 one at that would not look very good.

Would also guarantee some elephant memories on the committee. Would pretty much guarantee the Seminoles would be left out of the playoffs whenever there was any opportunity-"we weren't sure if they would show up to play the game or not".

Did FSU get screwed s little bit-yes. Entirely of their own making though and a result of a chain of events set in motion over 30 years ago. I like FSU, but they really have no choices here and continuing to whine is not going to solve any of their problems.

Bowden rejected joining the SEC 30 years ago, and the A She She commissioner voted against expanding the playoffs before 2024.

If FSU has held any football practices since the ACC championship game and then didn't play in bowl, that would seem to be a pretty major NCAA violation.

The game will be played.

It will not quiet the noise. Nobody knows how many of the first line players either team will have. Nor does anybody know the interest level of each team. I haven’t paid any attention to bowl game results for several years because of the opt-outs and never knowing which team wants to be there. Always like it when UT wins a game but I’m not going to get bent out of shape on a loss if we are missing multiple starters because of opt-outs and transfers.

As far as the gist of the article, it won’t happen because of money but I am really hoping FSU shows up, goes out on the field for the kickoff and then the entire team locks arms and walks to the locker room, gets dressed and gets back on the buses. That would send the middle finger to every clown on that committee and to the powers that be (Greg Sankey) that intimidated/influenced them.

Clearly you aren't remembering the Jabar Gaffney "catch" in 2000.

I still think criminal charges are warranted.

The bold is correct, not only because FSU would not receive their bowl payout, but because the Orange Bowl Committee would sue the living crap out of them and would win quite easily.

Can’t say it wouldn’t be a spectacular statement though. It would be classic. And the committee absolutely deserves a stick in their eye. I would say another body part but will refrain.

It would likely be in a top 10 of dumbest college football decisions in history.

If they want to make a spectacular statement, they should go stomp Georgia and prove to the world they were good enough. That's about all they can realistically do. Maybe if Mich, Wash, and Texas or Bama have 1 loss at the end of the playoff a few AP voters will throw some votes their way to make them feel good since they would be the only undefeated P5 team in the FBS.

I have a hard time believing FSU would give up the bowl money. But that said, FSU cancelling would be epic.
Do not see them cancelling. But they might play their back ups just for experience. I would.

And that's the incentive to FSU to stay there. Why venture to the SEC and face top flight competition week in and week out when you can carve up the pansies in the ACC and go 13-0 or 12-1, maybe 11-2, and back your way into the playoffs?
