Which is exactly why the twelve team thing isn't any better than this abortion we have now.
How many games does this 12 team playoff have & starting when ? After the conf championship games or they going to play til Feb like the NFL ?

I don't see how that statement can be intelligently argued.

The 12 team college football playoff will be much better than what we have now. The power conference champions are all assured a bid, and the 6 at-large bids should assure that every serious championship contender is also included. Of course, there will always be arguments over seeding, but that's much different than arguments over inclusion concerning undefeated major conference champions - which is what we have now.

.... and a 16 team playoff, without any byes, is inevitable. That will be even better.

FSU is already planning their excuses when they get rolled by Ga. If they could get out of it I believe they would. GA and Alabama are both top 4 teams this year. Can’t convince me otherwise. SEC “not like the others”.

Neither team is going to care one bit about this game and they will both be playing third stringers for most of the game because of opt outs. Georgia in the Orange Bowl will wear the same uniforms as the team that went 12 and 1; but it will not be the same team

Then that should make it that much easier for a "top 4" team like Florida State to beat them.

It’s definitely better than what we have now. An undefeated power 5 team will now never be left out of an opportunity to win a national championship.

FSU leaving the ACC would be ok with me. There needs to be some competition in the tiny 10.

Is there still a power 5?? Maybe the should take the winners from the power 2 or 3 and then the highest ranked 9-10 with a max of 3 from any one conference. JMO.

I think there will be a re-structuring when this PAC2 lawsuit and some other things get figured out. With all due respect to Wash St and Oregon St, they shouldn’t get an automatic bid when they merge w/ the Mountain West.

That’s not what I was talking about at all. I was equating how the future conversations will involve Bubble teams in football just like in basketball. The conversation will move from the 4, 5 and 6 to 10-13. If this same thing happened next season FSU would get a bye . However, if we had a 12 team CFP this season I’m pretty certain FSU would get a 5 seed and not a bye because they are clearly the current worst Power 5 conference champion and it’s not particularly close. They would be gifted Liberty at home in Tallahassee.
Gifted is a slight stretch. Without Travis, Liberty could very well beat them. Had they gotten Liberty instead of Georgia, I would bet money Liberty would beat them. FSU would have several opt outs, and Liberty would have none. FSU has no offense without Travis, and Salter is no joke. Oregon will beat Liberty handily, but I’m not so sure about Florida State.

My hypothetical was talking about a 12 team CFP. I have my doubts that anyone would opt out of the CFP. I hope not at least. Maybe Liberty could beat them w/o Travis, I’m not sure . I do know that Liberty hasn’t played anyone this year . I’m pretty sure that their SOS is 133 of 133. Also, I used the term “gifted” because I am not a huge fan including a G 5 team just to do it . I think there needs to be stipulations put in place that they have to have played and beaten a power 5 or whatever # member to be considered for the CFP. I don’t care about the underdog getting their chance all that much.

I think we are on the same page with our thoughts. A fully loaded FSU team would blast them, but they wouldn’t be getting that if they traded places with Oregon. But I also doubt Liberty would have made a 12 team playoff this year. They might have let them get fed to the wolves at Michigan, but they weren’t a top 12 team. Possibly not even a top 25 team. But I think they give a depleted and apathetic Florida State team all they want right now.

This is what the 12 team CFP would look like this season. Liberty would be the 12 seed bc they were the highest ranked G5 conference champion. They would face the 5 seed FSU in Tallahassee .
