Orange Bowl Opt Outs?

Probably in the minority here, but bowl games to me now are just meaningless money grab exhibition events. I don’t think I’ve watched even part of one in the last ten years. I don’t care if all 22 starters opt out. Play the guys that put in all the work each week but never play during the regular season. Give them a rewarding game experience.

Interesting perspective and I definitely think the coaches should play as many players as possible to reward them for their loyality and hard work. As one from a different generation, I don't agree with players sitting out in their own best interest. To me, it's very selfish and not supportive of the team or university. After all, the university gave them an opportunity to play and become the players they are. And most players didn't do that decades ago. But don't get me started about the things I don't understand...especially this generation of kids!

Yep. He is only good enough to be a first team All SEC WR and projected to be a first round draft pick. He is also still recovering from his injury when he stepped on a Ref's ankle against USC. Besides, we have really good receivers waiting in the wings if our QBs can get the ball close enough for it the be caught.
I am not doubting his impact at UT and in the college game. I am saying at the NFL level and combine he will get picked apart. His size, lack of route running. He is a pure speed demon with decent hands. Have you noticed they don't really use him on anything but streaks, crossers and comebacks? How many screens does he get? How often do they try to get him the ball in space? How often does he get open because of route running?

As far as the projected first-round where has that been said outside these forums in anything other than rumors? You know how many guys over the years have gotten 'word' back they were projected to be drafted only to end up UDFA's? Now will Hyatt end up there? not likely with the season he just had someone will fall in love. But honestly he could just as easily go day 3 as day 1. He is a likely day 2 guy IMO.. and as I said before he should go now because the chances of him increasing stock next year vs an injury are too great.

I'm just as interested in who from Clemson might opt out. This is the game I have been wanting for the last 2 seasons, I hope our players and coaches feel the same way.
I hear that QB DJ GerebESFnotgonnaworkhereanymore guy opted out.

I agree - you're in the minority.

I’m not even thinking of opting out.

I been yelling at my grandkids and dogs extra hard just to get in bowl shape.

My immediate thought is Tillman might given his injury issues this season.

That said, all these guys on the roster have never been to a marquee bowl game and for the ones leaving, this is their last chance. So I wouldn't be shocked if either Hyatt and / or Tillman decide to play. If this were the Music City Bowl, it would be different, but the Orange Bowl is a big honor.

Indeed, it is. We haven't been to the Orange Bowl since 1/2/1998 and, before that, 1/1/1968, when we lost to Oklahoma 26-24 after a 43-yard FG attempt by Karl Kremser went wide right by, perhaps, two feet. This Tennessee team has the opportunity to win an Orange Bowl for the first time in almost 84 years, when, on 1/2/1939, one of Neyland's best teams defeated Oklahoma 17-0.

I think tillman may be only opt out..
hyatt can set name in stone in a record and he is kind of down around late 2nd round now.. maybe could improve.

I say everybody plays even Tillman primetime game to showcase their talents plus only thing going on in that timeslot except NBA and I only watch that after March Madness lol
