I took the bolded part of your first post to mean that you weren't concerned about uniforms and that you felt the attention to alt uniforms were ditracting from things that should be more of a priority.

I think you have to concede that what you said could easily be taken that way.

Either way, I guess the folks that come into every uniform thread to proclaim how little they care about them are just getting to me today. It's been a rough football week.
No that was not what I was meaning. I love the smoky grey and don’t mind a mix now and then. Just don’t feel like we need to over due it as our classic uniform is pretty awesome. I even like the Halloween uniforms, I have no problem with them now and then. Especially at home I thought they looked pretty wild. But I wouldn’t want too see it all the time. The classics never get old. It has been a long week we need a good football weekend this weekend. That means going out and looking good and focused and taking care of business. That is our win win right now. We need to take one game at a time. GBO

The alts are a bit out of control. I am a little suprised that they didn't pick the classic uni this week. Sorry I misunderstood.

I think at this point most of us are at "Just win this game...beat USCe...and go 8-4." Not many, including me, care what you're wearing when you do it.

I'll take 8-4 in ugly uniforms over 7-5 or 6-6 in cool uni's.

Dumbass me...favoring wins over looking tough.

Go Vols.

I'm not in disagreement with you but its a sign of the times and its what the young players like now. Oregon started the revolution years ago and all of college football have moved to adapting multiple alternates. I will say we always play well in the blackout uniforms so I can't complain too much about the result. No more orange helmets though.
You misspelled Nike. 😂

But Johnny Majors introduced this combo, iirc, along with the orange pants for away games. These are not exactly "alts." Known back in the day as "double orange."

True. But the founders of Nike were Oregon grads, so they got the first shake. Oregon is the first team that I can recall wearing a million different uniforms. I do agree that I wouldn’t consider the orange/orange to be an alternate as the Vols have been wearing it for some time now.

Yeah Oregon is Nike's pet: I simply meant that Nike's financial interests were behind Oregon's choices all along. It was half sarcasm.

The black unis have an even older Vol pedigree, as you prolly also know. I join you in never having liked the orange helmets. I like our policy of pushing our brand with our classic look for major rivals. Also agree the young recruits snd players like alts.

Orange over orange and white over white are ok, but my favorites are orange over white and white over orange…….

Oh 100%. Now if you’re a young fan you want your parents to buy you your favorite teams jersey in every color available and some people will fork over the money. Pure marketing genius.

Call me old fashioned, but I love when we wear the white pants and then orange or white tops. The orange pants look goofy.
Agree at home. Orange over white on the road is beautiful. Basically, we need orange and white, not too much of either.

Oranges pants aren’t a home game tradition? How long have you been a fan?
First, I said traditional home unis. If you polled the college football world, I think you'd have over 95% that would respond orange over white with white helmets is UT's traditional home uni. Yes, there is a tradition of orange pants but it's not the uni that most folks associate with the Vols. My only point is even with the recent struggles that all elite programs have gone thru, UT is program that has a national identity and doesn't have to be like the Oregons and SoCars of the college football world that creates buzz by showing up in a different color combo every week.

The first college football game I ever attended was UT vs OM in 1968 (Archie was my idle) and even though I've never been a Tenn fan, it's a program I grew up following and respecting. Yeah, I'm old and a fairly traditional guy and realize the kids today want flash but even the flash can become mundane when it becomes the norm. So, when I think of UT vs Bama or UGA or LSU, etc. there is a picture in my mind of how all the teams will look and it's a pretty darn good picture.

Have we found the right combination of tops and bottoms yet that make us win? Asking for a friend.

Its absolutely hilarious how concerned some are on the uniform choices. How about wear one that will help you win and stick with it. Who the F cares about all the choices. Just win!!!
But where can I get one of those smocks the coach wears. 🤣
