He's caught up in a tangled lie right now. Not smart, and not good for him.

I'm not trolling - hard for a vol fan to troll on a vol forum - you guys are screwed - first stage is always denial pal.

Supposedly, the questioning was about USC, not Oregon.

Read a little further and it appears that is a hastily constructed way to deflect and mislead but it appears that story is falling like a house of cards around him.

I'm not talking necessarily about Thomas - but he's probably linked. Oregon has been doing more than "paying for recruiting services" that includes highlight tapes and the usual - and they will get busted for it. It's just another sneaky way to try to buy players.

He spent all day denying the NCAA had talked with Thomas about the big 0.

It's funny because they haven't yet.

Thomas just lied on his Twitter account about the NCAA talking to him about USC.

In reality, he hasn't spoken to them about anything. It wouldn't even relate to these supposed transgressions, anyway. This is about Texas guys and Thomas is from LA.

If it's happening in Texas - chances are it's happening in California as well.

Okay, but the people under the microsope in this whole thing are two Texas recruiting service guys.

You don’t seem to understand how the NCAA works. Once the door is open the investigation goes wide and deep.

Does anyone know of/have examples of other schools doing this? ESPN quotes Chip Kelly saying... "Most programs purchase recruiting services."

I think it's a really common thing. Coaches don't have the time/resources to scout every single prospect, so they pay other people to do it for them.

Also, I remember reading about it in Meat Market, and that came out a while ago.
