How? It's a little sketchy, no doubt, but pretty much every singlemajor program subscribes to and pays for these services.

Cmon man, I know it's your team but don't play dumb. Looks like paying handlers to sway players to them. Not good.

I'm not playing dumb. Seems like they're just paying these guys to evaluate prospects for them (along with pretty much every major program). No evidence to suggest otherwise at this point. If you have any evidence, though, feel free to share it with me.

Does anyone know of/have examples of other schools doing this? ESPN quotes Chip Kelly saying... "Most programs purchase recruiting services."

1) Recruiting services representing players?

2) I read where standard payment is $5K, not $20K

Your right, I am sure that it is all standard practice. That is why news services spent their time and money investigating it and wrote a story about it

You don’t seem to understand how the NCAA works. Once the door is open the investigation goes wide and deep.

They're going to do the Charlie Sheen!

.......ok, cut me off.

The guys old company charged 16k for the prior two years work. Then charged 25 k for one season.

It's clear what they did, but who knows what will happen.

Your an Oregon fan so I don't know how much time you spend on this board, but that's pretty much the norm on this board. VolDad is actually being pretty nice to you.

Regardless if it does comply with NCAA rules it's fugly. But so is over signing and the BCS system imo. And it's obviously not a isolated case. It's all rather stinky. :flush:

I completely agree. I don't like it, even if it is "allowed."

Seriously?

UT allegedly sent some pretty girls to a high school football game holding signs and are now preparing for punishment of the program and former staff.

The big O has acknowledged they paid thousands of dollars to the handlers of several recruits who just so happened to have selected O.

That is just the start. Our investigation was 22 months long. The NCAA will set up shop in Eugene looking under every rock and finding every bit of dirt. You really think that O’s program is so clean that the NCAA will find nothing wrong has occurred in the program?

Every program has dirt. They'll probably find some in Oregon's program if they look comprehensively enough. I don't think it is going to be anything that major.

it's not "allowed."

The only question is whether or not they "did it."

If you pay someone any money, and they have any part in influencing a player's decision, it's most definitely a major violation.
