Oregon Vs. ASU

I actually dozed off near the middle of the 4th. That's how much of a drag the game became in the second half. And while the refs were terrible, they had little to do with Oregon's horrific play.

That was the most pathetic attempt at defense I've seen in a long time from a team that's supposed to be elite. The offensive line was dominated all night, the secondary was getting torched from start to finish, the receivers were lack luster, the play calling was stale, and the defense as a whole was and is flat out terrible.

Oregon needs some quick fixes on the defensive side of the ball or they will lose next week. Andrew Luck will have a field say with that secondary.

Also, I've said it once and I'll say it again. Chip Kelly better learn how to attract recruits to Eugene and quick. He needs more dynamic receivers(the most he has are system WR's), and bigger more athletic players on the offensive and defensive lines. In fact, he probably needs to recruit some better LB's and secondary players as well, because if he doesn't, his successes at Oregon will be short lived.

Edit: Vontaze Burfict is a monster, and was by far the best player on the field last night. Those are the type of players Oregon needs. If they aren't going to SC, then need to be going to Oregon. When that happens, Oregon will be a consistent presence on the national scene.
Oregons been trying to figure this out for decades... Hell, every school in the Pac-10 has been trying to figure this out for decades.

Bumi obviously doesn't realize that Chip Kelly only has one class of recruits that are truly his own.

In that class, he pulled the 11th ranked class in the country

The key is breaking what Oregon has traditionally been and that is a bad to mediocre team with some really good individual players.

I actually do realize that. I also realize that Chips been a part of the staff since 07, and Oregon has never once breached the top 10 of any recruiting rankings. I also realize the primary reason last years class was ranked so highly was due to the addition of a couple highly valued RB's, and a 4* QB; Two positions the Ducks are extremely deep at. Furthermore, I also realize that Ducks aren't very far removed from bringing in a class ranked 49th(2006), and a class ranked 32(09). This of course, affects depth and overall talent level and renders it practically impossible to sustain national success while competing in a major power conference.

I also realize Chip is off to another mediocre recruiting season, he currently has the 29th ranked class, and yet again, his highest valued prospects are a QB and a 5'8 150lB receiver.

Now, what you don't realize is that since the birth of recruiting services, there's never been a team who's won a national championship or even competed for one with more 3* athletes on their roster, than 4*'s. You also lack the realization that most titles are won in the trenches, and on the defensive side of the ball. Two very weak areas for the Ducks.

You also fail to realize that 4 and 5 star prospects don't always pan out, and that sometimes the 2 and 3 star prospects are the best out there.

Yet the last 7 national champions have had at least one #1 ranked recruiting class. :ermm:

The facts don't support your argument.

Blah blah blah. Oregon will throw in some stinkers defensively. They gave up 55 to stanford and still won the pac 10 by 2 games last yr. Arizona State isnt terrible. Survival saturday is over and the ducks did just that. Now, they will make a statement against a very good Stanford team.

take a look at the runner ups too. the last runner up not to have multiple top-5 recruiting classes was vtech. and how long ago was that? anyone arguing recruiting doesn't matter is a friggin idiot.
