Oregon's Gimmick Offense Should Put Us On Notice

One back sets. No full-backs or usage of tight ends. Read option. Reverse plays to pig howard, need I say more?

So it's gimmick if it isn't pro-style?

The only thing that can be described as gimmick there is the reverse plays.

Which is dumb because those have mostly been our most effective run plays.

Football is still about beating the man in front of you. Doesn't really matter what O or D you run.

FWIW…Stanford's D coordinator has literally done clinics about how to stop the Oregon O. It is a great read if you can find it. It may be on VN somewhere.

FUNNEEEEE! :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::crazy:

Oregon had the ball for 18 out of 60 minutes…
Oregon rushed for less than 70 total yards (when their average was >300 ypg)…
Oregon did turn the ball over--but not willingly--it was because their ball-carriers were being HIT!
Oregon scored only 13 points on offense all night…when they average over 50...

Now--you wanna please try again with that crap? Did you even watch the same game as I did??? Just who was it stopping them if it wasn't Stanford's defense?

And, do you think Stanford would have played so conservatively on offense in the 2nd half if Oregon would have scored a TD sooner? :salute:

You are totally neglecting the real reason Oregon lost. No defense to stop Gaffney. Im not trying to take anything away from Stanfords defense, but their offense kept Oregon off of the field most of the night.

What do you think the outcome would have been had Stanfords offense been unsuccessful?

You're in troll mode at this point.

RCVOL is always in troll mode because a TROLL is exactly what he is!!!

I don't know who his real team is but it's so obvious that he's scared to death of what bUTch is doing and where our future Vols are headed.

Congrats to RCVOL for making a total idiot of himself on this thread like he always does, LMAO!!!

We're not even through year 1 of bUTch and our new systems.

We're down to our 3rd string QB that happens to be a true Freshman because of injuries to our 1st and 2nd string QB's.

We're not even close to top teams on player talent on the starting roster much less on a 2 deep gameday roster.

We're playing the toughest schedule in college football despite what any other team attempts to say.

Now RCVOL says the wheels are coming off our Vols because Oregon failed to execute well until the 4th quarter where their O quickly scored 20 fast points and turned the ball over several times in the redzone.

Damn, maybe we should all panic and act silly for zero real reasons at all when bUTch is just getting started and has the #2 ranked recruiting class coming to the hill for next season, LMAO!!!

I would normally ignore a TROLL like RCVOL but he's so dumb and funny I just have to see what ignorance he comes up with next, LOL!

RCVOL....Thanks for playing kid and keep up your trolling and humor.

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

Because he still thinks that's what the NFL is, apparantly. I bet he thinks wide receivers that don't line down in a 3-point stance are "gimmicky".

Tell me which NFL teams successfully use the read-option.

Bahahahahaha........no seriously.........bahahahaha......my bad, seriously........bahahahahahahahahaha

You are clearly on the honor roll at you special needs institution.

Oregon's up-tempo finesse offense DOES NOT work against solid defenses. We need to ditch the read option ASAP!!

Wow!!

What the Stanford/Oregon game shows is what you need is a "Great Defense"! You need a DL that dominates the line of scrimmage.

Championships are won with defense.

Examples:
Florida dominates Ohio St. Why defense!
Auburn beats Oregon Why defense!
Alabama over many Why defense!
Tennessee over Fla. St. Why defense!

I can go on and on.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would complain about Oregon's offense.

No Pac12 offense plays great against Stanfords defense. They are the only defensive team in the Pac12.

Just shows how soft we are. I remember when Tennessee teams had some attitude about them. Stanford just lined up and punched them in the mouth. Same thing we should have done with our all world Oline. What a disappointing bunch they've been this year.

Face it, Oregon is a finesse team and we are modeling our offense around theirs. Meanwhile LSU and Alabama are reloading.

Here is a great video of an explanation of how the Ducks run the offense .. btw, around the 7 min mark, they are remarking that the base of the offense is a dive play and its a physical offense.

You have to fight through blocks to stop Oregon. We got pushed 5 yards down field before we even turned toward the ball carrier. That's just soft.

I would like to think we are modeling our offense around Stanfords offense..they run the read option sum then go power

I wouldn't go that far.

In the run game, the only difference between our zone blocking schemes and those of Alabama, the Houston Texans with Arian Foster, and the Denver Broncos is we don't block one defensive end. We expect him to have to account for the QB. Oh and we run it out of the shotgun.

Now if you prefer a "power" scheme with pulling guards and whatnot to a zone scheme that's personal preference, but you can be a power run team with what we're doing and I think that's where this team is going.

Oregon's offense sucks because they don't wear a good defense down with the run. Once they learn they can't pass it's over. Cam Newton beat Oregon single-handedly. Auburn's defense was mediocre. If we had Cam Newton I would be a fan of the option read, but we don't and won't for the foreseeable future.

There is so much fail in this thread, let's give our coach a chance to coach. Let the results speak for themselves in 3 years.

Every statement in this post is misguided and completely ignorant.

Starting with "Oregon's offense sucks."
