Let's also not forget that Stanford has a bunch of freakin' rocket scientists playing for them. They are a very smart team.

Oregon's up-tempo finesse offense DOES NOT work against solid defenses. We need to ditch the read option ASAP!!

Read option offense out of the spread can be a very physical offense. It doesn't have to finesse.

Any offense will work if you block it well and run it well. Football is not really rocket science if you block and tackle well.

Cam Newton, Manziel are anomalies. If you want to win in our conference, and I'm not talking about 9 games a year, you have to run a pro-style, run-intensive offense and play solid D. You can't just rely on a quick strike, up-tempo offense. Oregon's offense is designed to exploit average to above-average defenses. It is not designed to win championships.

Are you out of your freakin mind? They average nearly 60 Pts a game. Just because Stanford is punching them in the mouth right now, this one game doesn't exactly mean the offense doesn't work. I give you Baylor as exhibit B.

By the way... no offense, including your apparent penchant for the old 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense, works particularly well vs solid defenses. It's the old good pitching beats good hitting theory. I'll give you that Stanford has the Oregon offense figured out. That makes approximately one team in the country. Do you not recall our recent trip to Autzen Stadium back in Sept? That up tempo offense rattled off 59 straight Pts and could've easily scored 80 had they not called off the dogs.

Might as well get used to the "up tempo" read option as long as Butch is here. It's his offense.

do you think that's what read option means? Play calls made from the huddle is the difference?

The read option allows the qb to decide whether to hand the ball off when the ball is snapped. Tebow never did that.

That's because our defense sucks balls. The read option isn't new anymore. We won't fool anyone.

Stanford has had the ball for 30 minutes. Hard for Oregon to execute their offense when Stanford has the ball the whole game.

True but Stanford has stopped them. That's the problem with "up-tempo" offenses. You had better have a good defense because if you don't the game gets out of hand in a hurry.

Oregon got inside the 5 yard line twice and screwed up on their own accord. That wasn't Stanford bowing their backs. This game should be 23-14 at the worst for Oregon.

Tennessee's offensive line should watch the Stanford Oregon game film to see what its like to actually give a shyte about run blocking.

And oh - gimmicky offense sucks. See BAMA and Stanford. But CBJ has a system and the best staff in America. Sheeesh give me a break already. CBJ will have to adapt his scheme if he wants long term success in the SEC.

What coach in SEC has sustained success with zone read spread option offense??? Dont even say Urban Meyer at Fla because he quit.
