Oregon's Gimmick Offense Should Put Us On Notice

The funny thing is that I don't even like read option football.

Yeah Baylor is an awesome program. Oklahoma sucks balls apparently. Shows how far we have fallen when guys like you think Baylor is a good program.

Baylor apparently sucks balls because they game steamrolled by Baylor? Seems legit.

Where is that ducksflyin moron who kept trying to describe the game of football to us? I was hoping to help him celebrate the streak of Oregon not winning the national championship again, now dating back to...um, let's see....never.

Bottom line: oregons gimmicks couldn't get it done.

This....

And to Rebel:

and Tennessee's zone read has been average at best this year. oh but i guess it has nothing to do with the scheme rather the lack of talent on offense. yet we supposed to have "on paper" one of the best offensive lines in the country. but but but cant bash the players because recruit read this forum. So it isn't Tennessee's scheme rather its the players but not the offensive line because they are supposedly talented. Oh wait its the skill players. God forbid we critique the scheme or the coach or the staff.

Where did I say Baylor was a good program? Could you tell me that?

They may not be a good program historically but I'd like to be where they are right now

How many 96 yard drives did Oregon's defense give up after turning the ball over inside the 5 yard line? Sounds like Oregon's defensive scheme is what we should be discussing. Their offense screwed themselves. That's about execution, not the scheme. Get your head out of your dupe chute.

Ok, off to bed for you Mr. Pat. You clearly need to sober up.

Oregon's offense is a gimmick and they get dominated by "real" football teams that play an SEC style . . . nevermind that they absolutely DESTROYED our team.

But go SEC/"traditional" football!!! ::rolls eyes::

I'd also like for RC to answer me this: How "traditional" is it to use 3 tight ends and a full back and to run it 85% of the time. To me, that sounds like a gimmick.

Actually a great point. In today's game, playing 2 tights and a FB 80% of the game is extremely out of the ordinary.

Patrick has been around for a long time. Even if he goes to bed, he'll still be like this in the morning. :) but I still like him for some reason.

thank you GaVol.

im a straight shooter. love it or hate it.

love traditional smash mouth football.....hate finesse read option zone read spread football.

hate where the vols are but hoping and praying for better things to come.

Because he still thinks that's what the NFL is, apparantly. I bet he thinks wide receivers that don't line down in a 3-point stance are "gimmicky".

In general i think that zone read spread option is gimmicky. Are you even watching what Stanford is doing to Oregon's vaunted offense?

Point is Tennessee won a ntal chp with conventional offense.

How many unconventional offenses (spread option - zone read offenses) have won a BCS Championship or a Natl Chsp?

Nebraska from the 90s says hello! They beat Florida to death in the Orange Bowl one year (96?) with an option QB. Then they beat us the next year to death in the Orange Bowl (97). The difference was that the QB got hit and he got hit often and hard. Wuerful and Manning had a busted chins in that game because their defense beat their man all day and all night. Defense wins championships and offense just puts enough points on the board to win the game. Look at A&M this year against BAMA they scored 42 points and lost cause they couldn't stop BAMA from scoring on Defense. If they had any defense they would have won. You need to have a stout defense with an offense that can blast people off the ball if need be or throw it all over the field. I think that is the style of offense CBJ is building right now.

indeed gavol indeed.

its just a shame how far our vols have fallen.... here it to hopefully better days ahead.

:peace2:

Huh? What does my screen name have to do with Oregon's offense?

He's saying you're racist...a real GIMMICKY tactic...if you want to win you should do it WITH A TRADITIONAL ATTACK...facts :good!:
