I saw the piece where he said he wanted Barkley's number. Read into that if you want, but it's just two guys joshing around. Morley wears that number, but if Charles wanted it, Morley could switch back to the number he wore his first two years, 20, which has been vacated by Nevin McKenzie.Sabanocchio,
Does Tennessee currently have somebody on offense wearing the number 7? The only reason why I ask is that I have heard from a very reliable source over at WEARESC that the number is of the utmost importance to Charles. So much so that Matt Barkley has offered Charles the number.
Now, although I am extremely impressed by Barkley's unselfish gesture, I am a bit concerned with this number situation. It seems as though there is a huge amount of stock put into this by OC.
The UT writers on Scout are awful. The UGA writer has been getting, like daily updates on Charles. He's good. He's the guy that built the GAVarsity site on Rivals. So, no. I don't read anything at all into that. Also, does anybody read anything into the fact that on the scout sites, the only updates Charles has given are to SC and UGA?
I doubt USC is standing when Charles makes his final decision. I don't think you make it that far. I'm not being a homer here either. I think Charles ends up at UGA.In the end, from all I can surmise, it will be USC and UGA. UT could definitely still be in the mix, but Florida is DEFINITELY not. That is the only thing that is very certain.
Charles is the one who has to live there. I'm sure Kiffin will remind him about the players that transfer out of USC because of homesickness. Didn't Jarrett nearly leave for that reason? Hazelton? I'm sure Kiffin will relay that story to him. Not that there's any real need. If distance was bothering him before the visit, it will be the prevailing factor. Also, our grand poobah has said Charles' mom has given her blessing for him to come to LA. She was with him on his visit, and both said distance would now not be a factor. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen.
Possibly. Probably irrelevant though. But, rest assured, from all the rumors and innuendo floating around, if distance is really not a factor, the percentages will change heavily towards SC's favor.
We just freed up room at the position and he'd likely start immediately at UGA too. Peace. My primary concern is his issue with the depth chart at SC. Anthony McCoy is a very good tight end, and Blake Ayles has the potential to be one of the best in the nation. Ayles can be a real beast, and he is only a sophomore.
I guess we will all know soon. Peace.
Charles looks Georgia bound

Tight end Orson Charles (Tampa, Fla./Plant) is one of a handful of Class of 2009 prospects (Bryce Brown and David Oku are the two others that have grabbed headlines) that has decided to wait until after National Signing Day to sign with the school of his choice.
His recruitment appears to be coming to close as there is a lot of talk that he will end up at Georgia with his high school quarterback Aaron Murray, who has already enrolled at UGA. Miami (Fla.), Florida and Southern California are the other teams that are in the mix.
Charles told ESPN affiliate TotalUGA.com that he plans on eliminating two teams tonight. It would be a surprise if Georgia were one of them.
He's got to honestly be the biggest homer ever - more so than the Oregon guy.
He's not so different than one of us would appear on his board. JMO.
Bruno,
Are we crossed? Ok, I stole that from Val Kilmer's legendary performance as Doc Holiday in Tombstone. Seriously though, why the hostility? Again? I am trying to show respect and courtesy by reaching out and asking other's opinions on this board.
Am I a homer? I guess, whatever the hell that means. My grandfather has been to every SC game (home and away) for 40 years. So, I guess I do have somewhat of a special interest. However, I do not believe the sun rises and sets with SC football. There are many things that are alot more important than SC football going on in the world.
I am sorry if my presence has offended you so deeply. As you (or someone else here) have previously alluded to, my stay here will be shortlived. Once the recruiting stories are over, it will be time to bid adieu. By, parting is really such sweet sorrow. Peace.
