Orson Charles (announcing at 4:30 pm EST)

Bruno,

Are we crossed? Ok, I stole that from Val Kilmer's legendary performance as Doc Holiday in Tombstone. Seriously though, why the hostility? Again? I am trying to show respect and courtesy by reaching out and asking other's opinions on this board.

Am I a homer? I guess, whatever the hell that means. My grandfather has been to every SC game (home and away) for 40 years. So, I guess I do have somewhat of a special interest. However, I do not believe the sun rises and sets with SC football. There are many things that are alot more important than SC football going on in the world.

I am sorry if my presence has offended you so deeply. As you (or someone else here) have previously alluded to, my stay here will be shortlived. Once the recruiting stories are over, it will be time to bid adieu. By, parting is really such sweet sorrow. Peace.

Some people just dont like it when others act the same way they do on other teams' message boards I guess. Every true fan is a "homer" in some form or fashion. You want OC at your school, and you go off of the news you get out there....which is, understandably, USC biased. If our media didnt SUCK, and were not still sulking over their good-ole boy getting canned....our info would be biased too.

I enjoy having the opinions and info of other teams' fans on here....I like getting a side of things without the damn orange glasses on all the time. You have only talked good natured, PG13 smack as far as I have read, and have shown respect to UT and its fans. I admire the USC program as the top in the nation. I truly hope LK turns us into "USC East".

However, with that said....Dont you a-holes have enough 4-5* players already?!?! Just let us get this ONE!!!!! :)

If he doesnt come to UT, he better go to USC. I cant stomach losing another recruit to that continually over-hyped, falling short program.

In retrospect, the UGA pattern reminds me of our program before the '01 SECCG loss. Loads of talent, but the program is on the slide.

Has Morley ever played a down on offense? I don't think so. This is not even a conflict.

The number 7 is his at UT, whether Morley gives it up or not.

Wasn't that Condredge Holloway's number?

He played one down in one of the orange and white games.

He played one down in one of the orange and white games.

Did he catch a ball?

He's got speed and I have wondered if some of that star-studded fleet of DB's would move over?

Of course, he could change numbers for the Charles issue.

Btw... good recall on this spring game play.

Oh and on the numbers thing effecting his school......

Per Scout:

He reportedly lobbied for Barkley’s No. 7 jersey, however jersey number doesn’t top his list of criteria for choosing a college.

“Which school I can step on the field and make an impact the fastest, and just a school that I am really comfortable with,” Charles told Kevin Carden of SCPlaybook

Going off topic is what makes life so grand. Sure, we could all have linear, straight-forward, and coherent posts. But, where is the fun in that? Instead, we all can rant endlessly about our different agendas and ideologies.

BTW, I have been to Tennessee on several occasions. My other grandfather was a big Elvis fan. So, the pilgrimmage to Graceland was a foregone conclusion for everyone in the family. Great trip, great times. Kind of like the Griswold's but a California version heading the opposite direction. My grandfather was a vegan, long-haired, surfing (nearly until his death) hippy who rarely slept and had endless energy. Needless to say, traveling cross-country with him was an eye-opening experience.

Also, I posted a few days ago about going to a UT game a few years back. It was in the middle of my lengthy post about the sublime California climate. Alas, when I checked the responses the next day, it had been erased by the rulers upon high.

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and was impressed with the 9 million people at the game. Seriously, is there anybody in Tennessee who does NOT attend the games? BTW, do not hold this against me, but my ex was a Gator. I had to sit in this section with all of these people doing that assenine Gator chomp the entire game. I get a bit natious just thinking about it.

Here's to a USC-Tennessee matchup in the future. The longer Lane stays at UT, the more realistic of a chance this game could occur. Peace.

As long as you had your way with her, that's all that matters. :)

Hope to see a matchup as well. It would be a classic (Lane schools his mentor).:p

I forget. I think they tried to hit him with a really short pass to see if he could make something happen.

Noch,

My bad, dude. I, too, am a big fan of Tombstone. Both the movie and the pizza. As a film major, I should have caught that mistake. I never could get my professors to screen movies like that. A friend of mine tried endlessly and very unsuccessfully to coerce a professor into agreeing to let him write a paper about Braveheart. The professor said, in essence, that Braveheart was not a worthy movie to to discuss at such a length.

Well, to show that snooty lady what he really thought of her opinion, he wrote it anyway. Although he went down in flames, he got much love and respect from his peers. At the end of the day, that was more important than his perfect GPA.

I'm from Memphis and I have only been to Graceland once and that was enough for me so I hope you didn't have to go every year. LOL

I have been to numerous games and everytime it was just as awesome as the first I have never had a bad time. Well I did have to stop some fellow UT fan from messing with a couple of girls that were sitting next to my wife and I that were gator fans. I don't mind a little smack talk but when stuff gets thrown that was going way too far. I don't want anyone to have a bad time.

I would also like to see a UT-SC game I think that would be awesome!

Tennessee is one of the only teams east of Arizona with the guts and pride to schedule a game with SC. Seriously, I will not get into the PAC-SEC thing. That has become trite, pointless, and played out. Many people on the left coast give Tennessee mad props for their scheduling. Others wonder why you don't rest on your laurels like UF, UGA, and LSU do and simply say: "We don't have to play difficult OOC games, because the SEC is the best."

That may very well be the case, but is seems rather shallow when trying to get these teams on the schedule. And although I have been known to blow smoke now and then, I have very factual information from someone in the AD (think scheduling) that both UF and LSU have balked at a home and home with SC.

Take that for what it's worth. But, you and I both know these teams would not travel out to California twice like UT did. And that was just Cal and UCLA, not the west-coast monster SC. Somebody help me out here: when UGA traveled to Arizona, it was their first trip west of the Mississippi in how many years? I want to say 50, but I could be mistaken. Peace.

Good post... yeah.. I recall the stuff about UGA not traveling.

It'd be nice if we could play SC instead of the Ducks in 10/13. That could have helped our recruiting this year. You'd probably spank us in 2010, but by 2013, we should be back in it.

BTW, I got a text last night saying playing time is a major factor for Charles. Well, there goes that. When a player mentions it, you know it to be very true.

Well, I hope he goes to UT. After all, we could then start another 48 page thread about him committing to you guys. I am pretty sure both programs will survive either way.

And the visit to Graceland was certainly not the highlight of the trip. I agree that once is definitely enough. Maybe somebody should start a new trip about the merits of Graceland.
