OSU on predictably of Tennessee offense

We are about to see how good an AD Danny truly is. If he forces CJH to make some changes and upgrade the OC and DC he is truly elite. If he doesn’t and we keep running the same coaches then he’s not the elite AD we think he is. I think he is having some tough talks right now with CJH.

I think the play calling and offense from the 2022 season now resides at USF. Love CJH hope he’s here for a while but he needs to make 2 calls the first is an Oline coach our current one isn’t working out fully and the second a co-OC our QB all have looked incredibly under prepared since we changed OCs
That offense is 6-6 in the AAC.

Believe we’ve seen how good AD Danny White is. Two basketball teams undefeated, baseball NC and football team made the playoff. Not sure there is an elite one if they can’t pull up next to what his core teams are currently doing.

I’m not gonna knock the AD because so far he has done a great job but football pays all the bills.

Bills are paid and waiting lines to help pay bills for season tickets.

Short sighted reply.

I’m not trying to be a jerk but if scheming doesn’t change we are in trouble. We haven’t looked good at anytime on offense since golesh left. This year was brutal on offense. Sampson running and spin move made our offense look much better than it was.

So upset we won and made it to the playoffs, in a year when our offense didn’t look good. Seems like a good problem to have.

CJH does not have a playbook, he has a play page and the bottom half is blank. My main concern with this coaching staff is the severe lack of player development. We either have the dumbest players in college football or our coaches don't know how to teach the players. I'm also of the opinion that Niko's peak is way too low for success............just can't seem to fathom the game........that's the reason for the slowdown on the offense. I don't see us having a good 2025.

It's true, but the same stuff was said about Chip Kelly in past seasons. I suspect the lack of creativity is more the result of the O-line issues. There's only so much you can do when the D is in your backfield within 1-2 seconds constantly. We desperately need help on the O-line next year.

And let's be honest ... the game was over in the 1st Quarter when our D couldn't stop anything. D has been great for most of the season, but looked severely outmatched against OSU. Once we were down 21-0, game was over.

All in all, we got beat by a better team that played their best game of the season.
Disagree. The game was over with the first score of the 3rd quarter. We were still right there at halftime

There used to be blown coverages pretty often by defenses facing this offense. The scheming was brilliant. Now that Golesh is gone, it rarely happens anymore. I think it has much more to do with the play caller than the O line.

This is a good point. I currently have complete faith in White, and think a top end AD is part of a winning formula. There is no way White can think CJH is capable of sniffing any type of championship with the current structure and results

Don't get me wrong, Ohio State manhandled us in the trenches and were the more physical team. But I kind of wonder if there was some funny business going on. It seemed Ohio Step was always a step ahead of us on both sides of the ball. You can't discount the accusations of the BIG 10 either when it comes to gaining an unfair advantage.

Maybe some of it was scouting and consulting with other coaches. But it certainmy seemed like they had some good intel.
You think the coach earns 10 million dollars and has his signals stolen? This is really not an issue at this level. Hell, I knew what he was going to run next. The advantage is they paid their players 25 million. How high will you go? Whatever you say the money is wasted with no championship. Feed the homeless and stop this madness.

Our Dline was exposed against UGA and OSU.

It was exposed in other games as well like Arkansas. They just missed several field goals.

The biggest eye opener for me is the difference in speed. We have had some of the fastest guys in college football history play for Tennessee, but how is it that they knew they could run guys across the field, down the field deep and quick passes and sprint outs to the flats and we were outgunned every time? Resolving the speed issue is one on the priority list. I'm not sure if it's on the bench or been addressed in the 2025 class.

I think it was year 1 or 2 at UCF that was his best. Then it went downhill. I think most teams figured out his system. I'm concerned that's what's happening at UT now. With that said Tennessee probably needs to move on.
They don't need to be predictable, but unpredictable.

I'm not necessarily suggesting signals were stolen. But we know Ohio State has been accused of dirty tactics in the past in acquiring team's information according to Michigan's former QB.

If you listen to the interviews, the players continue to emphasize that the coaches did a good job at putting them in the right position and gameplanning for the game. Ryan Day himself even said in the pre-game pressee that he felt he had a really good gameplan for us.

Amd maybe that is all it was, a good game plan. But it seemed like guys were in the perfect place at the perfect time, play after play. Sure, Ohio Staye has good receivers, but they exploited our zone perfectly...almost too perfectly.

The biggest need is more Jimmys and Joes, I believe we all saw the difference between a top 10-15 roster vs. a top 3 roster.
Don't disagree with that, but we can not expect the teams to dumb enough to not be able to predict our play calling when many of us can do it and at least three defensive coordinators indicated they knew the plays we would run by the formation and our history of play calling. The only plays which well really successful were then QB keeper. n nOur receivers could not get open and our Oline could not block anyone. Part= of that is Jimmy's and Joes, but parts of it is talent and position coaching.

Unfortunately just better coaching they had three weeks to prepare

Is this a Zach Ragan article? It has all the hallmarks.

1. Reaching for a story that isn’t there by trying to pretend something was said that wasn’t

2. Woodsman has commented in the thread.

We have, maybe 5 plays, and their defense has in helmet communications and 3 weeks to learn. And we don't change a thing.,what could go wrong?
