Other great coaches that started similar to CBJ

I like Butch, and I like the fact that he and staff seem to be good recruiters--a must. But the jury is out on his coaching ability. His career record is a little thin. I'm optimistic some of your comparisons don't fly. Pete Carroll had a TON of high-level coaching experience before he went to USC. He was an NFL head coach. Bowden wasn't even a good coach, in my mind: He worked in the best state for high-school football in the country and joined a very weak football conference. Nice combo--we should be so lucky.

377–129–4 (.743) & 2 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS....I'd take that any day.

Saban, prior to Bama, won a NC after rebuilding LSU

You can't compare the two
Jones has proven he can win with talent albeit in a lesser conference; he is proving to us now that he can recruit very good as well. Everything else is conjecture on both sides.

Judging something without the proper information and prospective is just ignorance at this point. We will not know anything till year three.

A coach is ultimately judged by win/loss ratio

Ultimately, yes. But not in his first season. Unless, of course, he has our fanbase. Lou Holtz went 0-11 his first season at SCar. And he was a previous NC winner at Notre Dame. Bottom line is, you can polish a turd all you want, but...it's still gonna stink.
