Sigh... And you guys wonder why we get made fun of on TV. We are going to get utterly annihilated.

Sheesh. Your same rhetoric used to be witty. Now it's getting old. God man why do you have to be so negative all the time? Do you just enjoy it?

Have to agree. If we can't run the ball effectively versus Arky State and Utah State, what do people think is going to happen versus Oklahoma?

Nobody knows. That's the point. You're trying to use stats on paper as predictors. There is no magic 8 ball in football. That's why the games are played. Any given Saturday.

Play action is the reason we need the run. To sell play action we must make the inside/outside zone work. Ou is strong up front but we can run on them to set up play action and take advantage of our strength. WR! This is why CBJ talks run efficiency. So that our opponents have to respect runs. Splash plays would help!

OP ... I think OU will walk up and challenge our short routes with help over top. They will use the pass rush to make it very difficult to stay in the pocket long enough to attack deep.

Oklahoma is overrated ..infect most overrated after Ohio state. Texas beat the crap out of them last year ..I lived in Oklahoma for 5 years and Stoops teams have a weird knack of losing easy games ..Hope they think of us as one of those easy ones ..

They have Ebola?

So wait it's a good sign that we couldn't run or throw the deep ball against inferior opponents? Is that what you just said?

No. I said it's a good sign that the bulk of our offense effectively neutralizes the strength of their defense. You were almost there though.

You are correct! While stats can generally predict the winner of a future contest, stats are not the beginning and end of what will happen.

Some of the people who post on here really amaze me! The negative attitude about our program and all the "arm chair" coaches leaves a visitor to Volnation with, what I hope is not a true picture, of the majority of Vol fans.

We have a tradition rich championship program that has had about a decade of being down. We hired two clowns as coaches, had a terrible AD, and the attrition rate of players was off the charts.

Tennessee finally hires a new AD who brings in Butch Jones. CBJ inherits a program that was in worse shape than when Bill Battle left. It's not to far from the truth to say CBJ just about had to start over. CBJ comes in as a relative "unknown" and at the beginning fans had their doubt (including me). Despite all this CBJ brings a positive attitude to the players and I hope the majority of the fans! Get's a win over South Carolina and came with 2" of beating Georgia. Granted we lost to Vanderbilt. Then brings in a TOP 5 recruiting class despite the recent past history.

Now in two short years some ignorant fans expect us to beat top 5 teams on their field! Other fans spout doomsday predictions! Come on, why can't some of you just encourage and SUPPORT THE TEAM through good times and bad! This team is capable of wining our next game or losing by 30 points! Two years from now we will know if CBJ is a good coach or not. I am a VFL and proud of the players and coaches. I believe in CBJ and will support him until he proves otherwise. Nobody can argue that this team is improving! I see the enthusiasm in the players! I've seen no major off field incidents! Academically, the players are setting records!

My gut feeling is we are on the right track! Support or shut up! Some of you would make Bammer and Florida fans proud, please consider going to the "dark side" with all your negativity!

Isn't he out due to injury? Along with a DE or two?

Sanchez is playing. Was on campus walking normal, no sling. Stoops said he would practice all week and play Saturday.

Our DE was a backup RE (Walker) and he will be out for 2-3 weeks.

I am not sure where you get the idea that the OU secondary is a weakness. If we are in a "nickel" three of the 5 DB's started last year. The aforementioned Zac Sanchez will play and the other corner, Julian Wilson, is a senior who started @ "nickel" last year but was recruited as a CB. He's a large CB @ 6'2", 202lbs.Quinton Hayes is a returning starting safety but will move to "nickel" on passing downs and will be replaced by So. Ahmad Thomas. The other safety, So. Hatari Byrd, was highly recruited out of California. Both Thomas & Byrd are big....6' & 6'1" respectively. Byrd weighs in at 200lbs and Thomas is 218lbs. Other than Sanchez, who is very small, our back line is characteristic of a recent trend in our recruiting towards bigger DB's to combat the long rangy WR's we constantly see.

The passing yardage we have given up in our first two games has been in the second half with numerous freshmen playing. At the half Sat., Tulsa had a total of 90 yds. of O.

Any news on Matt Dimon and Jordan Wade, I know it was mentioned they may be back, but haven't seen anything definitive on them.

tl;dr

BUT:

I'm glad, of course, that we play the game because, who knows, right? But this is a "nightmare matchup" for the Vols and no amount of desperate reasoning will change the facts. I think the 21 point spread is generous given what I know about Bob "a-hole" Stoops.

Hey, your "I'm a senior in high school bad ass" is showing.

No need to go full douche man. Never go full douche

BigOrangeTrain just doesn't believe in applying logic and reality to gauge the most likely outcome, that's all. He admonished me severely because I said Utah St. was not the same team as a year or two ago. :dunno:

Any good team's Front 7, like Oklahoma, against our pathetic OL is worse than a nightmare. It's a catastrophe of nearly biblical proportions!!!

Okie's DL will absolutely obliterate our OL and live in our backfield at will. They'll wreak all kinds of havoc and cause turnovers.

Hope I'm wrong but I doubt that I am.
