After the lack of run blocking, and the oline giving up 4 sacks to terrible D lines in the first two games, I believe it's gonna be tough. our offensive play calling seems a little better in big games. CBJ will have his team ready to play, but OU has to many guns. With no injuries and the improved Defense I thought we would keep it respectful; now I'm not to sure.

Hopefully Wolf is back and 100% because in just 2 games it's become obvious he's Worley's main check down and pressure throw. We mainly just need to be smart with the ball on offense and let special teams and the defense help us out. For once we appear to have a defense capable of holding up their end of the bargain and maybe more. I envision their line giving us fits akin to the Mizzou line last year. This time though we have a SR QB and a lot more weapons to throw to.

How to overcome this disparity is short passes, bubble screens and RB screens. These will slow down their rush and keep LBs honest to respect the screen and short passes. Anything over 5-10 TSS gives them the advantage and time to put the rush on. We will need to dink and dunk our way down the field. The good news with that is it can help us control the clock some and keep their O off the field.

I'm all in with Butch and Co. If anyone thinks for a second that he don't know that this is his chance to show the football world that we are on our way back...think again! I am one of the ones that think our offense must be more efficient (especially against teams we are clearly out talent) if we stand a chance against better team...a lot of the teams remaining on our schedule. Butch will have us fired up and ready to give our all for Tennessee in a PRIME TIME game. Hope that's enough. It will be an uphill battle for certain. Go Vols!

O yeah! I say we go 5 wide and run strength of our offense all over the place and make them chase us until their tongues are dragging, then we can go to work on them. Just wishing out loud. I doubt the will ask, but that's my :twocents:

Hate to bring the truth out on your little pep talk, but Butch has yet to really show much of anything as an on the field coach who can consistently get players to overachieve. He has shown plenty of prowess as a recruiter and as the public face and manager of the program, but nothing really great has shown up in on the field performance yet, save for one lucky upset of SC last year.

I agree with you on what he has and hasn't shown on the field up to this point in time. You are also correct on his recruiting which in turn means that his players will not have to overachieve to play hard, since they are talented athletes. All he has to do NOW make his team believe and get the most possible out of this team with opportunities against opponents like we face this weekend on prime time television for everyone that watches football to see. If he does as much, he will continue to grow our program and maintain the respect he has with recruits.

Any news on Matt Dimon and Jordan Wade, I know it was mentioned they may be back, but haven't seen anything definitive on them.

Nothing has been said about them. All we know was Dimon was suspended last game, and Wade was "dinged up"

I assume Wade will be ready, not sure on Dimon

OU is going to throw a ton of pressure at us on the line. Stoops likes to bring 5-6 man pressure on every play and trust his CB's in man to man. They are quite athletic as well.

Tulsa tried to throw some screens at Oklahoma last week, but they were getting sniffed out quick. Their 2-deep shell is a little softer in terms of coverage, but it's still going to be hard to move the ball against them.

IMO, for us to have a shot at moving the ball consistently, we're going to need some semblance of a quick passing game. Our slant routes and quick outs w/the slot receiver have worked beautifully the first two games, but this game is quite a bit different. North has enough physicality to fight off the physical CB's and get open, but I'm not sure Howard or Smith have the same in them.

Running-wise, I don't see us getting more than 2.5 YPC in this game. The run in this game is simply not going to work consistently. The only thing I could think of is to call the QB's number a little more on the read-look part of our running game. We also have an inverted veer series w/slot -- the times I've seen us run it, it's usually Howard or Pearson as the motion man -- in motion that I'd give a look at using a little more in this game as well.

lol. I bleed orange, but I'm a realist. I hope we can challenge them and I think we have the staff in place to do it. Just don't have the depth yet. It's coming though. Believe me, I ain't no negavol.

"Realist" = Negavol (afraid to come out of the closet):whatever:

You have no idea on how to set up for an ambush do you!

OK = Gen Custer (Some Irony in play here).
TN = Lakota and Cheyenne Warriors at Little Big Horn.

What's the Indian word for BOOM?

There are approximately 800 individuals versed in Tsisinstsistots (Language of the Cheyenne)..a Plains Algonquian language. Having looked into this within my sources, the word for "Boom" translated into Tsisinstsistots (Language of the Cheyenne)..with the correct Proto-Algonquian reconstruction is ....

Boom

The problem with the quick screens and short passes is there is only a certain amount of times you are going to get away with it. After a while with no running game to speak of and no threat of the deep ball those LB's and DB's are going to start jumping routes. Pick 6 all day! O line has to step it up this week to have a chance at this one!

This is definitely a nightmare match up on both sides of the ball. Both of OU's lines are made up of redshirt Srs, Srs and Jrs......that's a huge difference in both experience and physicality.

Worley gets it out of his hands in less than 3 seconds on every pass, and we have a decent chance.

OP ... I think OU will walk up and challenge our short routes with help over top. They will use the pass rush to make it very difficult to stay in the pocket long enough to attack deep.

I agree, they know what we are going to offer. If the Big Uglies could just make a few holes up the middle here and there they would have to respect that and it would open someone up.. Uhhggg.. come On BIG UGLIES!!:clapping:

Oklahoma is overrated ..infect most overrated after Ohio state. Texas beat the crap out of them last year ..I lived in Oklahoma for 5 years and Stoops teams have a weird knack of losing easy games ..Hope they think of us as one of those easy ones ..

Wasn't it Oklahoma that Boise State beat in the bowl game with the monsterous trick plays at the end? The epic come back?
