Our DB's are going to have to learn to look back

This has been discussed many times and the general consensus seems to be that they are coached to focus on the receiver instead of the ball. Sometimes it works but when it doesn’t, in my opinion, it looks pretty bad. Case in point from Saturday with Hadden: On one play he got burned by the receiver but the ball was underthrown. Ended up being a PI call because he was turned facing the receiver and all over him trying to throw him off. If he had simply been playing the ball, that’s an INT. On his best play of the game imo, he turned around and jumped for the ball, great INT!
Here's the thing its only a minor adjustment but it makes a big deal. When they see either the receiver's eyes get big or the hands go up they have to at least turn their head as if they were looking for the ball. They can still cover the receiver since they are already right there and getting their own hands up doesn't require watching the receiver. But the need to learn the last second head turn. That will save them 90% of their PI calls. It seems like what is going on specifically for Hadden is a fear of getting burnt on a perfect throw/catch. They have to accept that pass coverage is all about denying anything that isn't absolutely perfect because the defender can't stop the perfect throw but they can be in the head of the offense and prevent that throw from being perfect in the first place.

Did anyone mention that defensive backs that are in phase with the receiver can play the ball in the air (possibly picking it off), while db's out of phase are taught play the recievers hands and attempt to break up the pass?
