Our first round matchup could be Ohio State at home.

It’s possible but I think our BVS fanbase doesn’t understand how bad that loss was for Ohio State. The committee has shown in the past that late season losses and home losses have a huge impact on your ranking.
You mean the committee led by the Michigan AD whose team was caught cheating last year?

Oh I see. No worries!

Texas and UGA are hosting, they won’t let 3 SEC teams host round 1..
Maybe they will.

Either way I think the Vols will have to beat 4 straight true National Title contenders to win it all.

FTR, Boise State, SMU, Arizona State are not that even though they will make the playoffs.

I think the Vols will have the most difficult path

They will if they have to give SEC this instead of a fourth team?

We'll be hosting a game is my bet. Even if somehow hosed this week, a sound W by Oregon over PSU won't drop them a ton, but I'd bet it drops them a slot behind us. I could be wrong...have no clue how the committee makes decisions. I do think that we get more of a power vote this week for three reasons...we're consistent (outside of ARK loss), we beat a good Vandy team soundly (which has made life difficult for some good teams this year), and our passing game showed what it can be vs Vandy. Let's be honest, if we can keep our passing game going like we did Saturday, we can make a serious shot at winning it all.

If Penn State beats Oregon or Georgia beats Texas they will just swap rankings. Idk what happens if Clemson or UNLV wins their conference championship. That could change some of the lower rankings but I doubt it changes our ranking if we get 8. It might affect 10-12 though.
Agree...I don't know for sure, but I'd guess, Clemson winning ACC would be bad for Bama, b/c that's another team in the 12, as SMU won't get bounced from the 12 for losing their second game in conference championship?

either Texas or UGA will get a first round bye. I don't think both can host a first round game in this setup.

One gets the bye, the other gets a first round game at home. They won’t have us as a first round home game. My feeling the committee won’t make the losing team travel but they will make us.

Gotta wonder how many OSU players might face a suspension with their next game being in the CFP? Especially if they lose a couple starters.
Not a bad point, although Day in their presser was implicitly defending the players involved, so it'll be interesting to see where their University/Conference goes with it.
